I noticed several soaring birds of prey while driving on the A1430 near Wallingford. I managed to catch a few photos a long way off, unfortunately they are bit grainy but they seem to be Red Kites. These used to be very rare so I'm not sure if they really are Kites.

Anyone for a swim This is from the 2003 floods and shows how high the river came, the building you see is the changing rooms for the swimming pool which as you can see is under water and is a few metres in front of it. Round where the black bag is in the middle of the photo is a children's paddling pool, they would need scuba gear to find it.

Nice hotel but the room was a little tired with signs of wear and damage. The heating wasn't working and I had to advise reception who left a portable heater in the room. It's surprising how often this happens in other hotels, not just here, and suggests a lack of maintenance.
