"There's so much to like about this property and it certainly had very high standards when it was initially designed and refurbished. However it does not maintain the high level of ambition of being a high-end holdiay apartment. Blocked gutters are causing a damp shower room, maintenance issues such as boiler constantly cutting out leaving no hot water or heating. Small maintenance issues, rudimentary cleaning and cheap mattresses, where a topper wouldn't go a miss, leave a disappointment. It is...

"Bedford House was amazing, the owners were fantastic, we had to change our dates at short notice they were very accommodating, thank you, we had a lovely 3 night stay and could have stayed longer, we were very lucky with the weather, we would absolutely recommend Bedford House but would not book through Hotels.com again, absolute nightmare of a company, when we tried to change our dates they told us that they could not do it as they could not contact the owners so we looked them up on their...

The Royal Hotel

8/10 Good

"Really nice hotel was a pleasure to stay and my children both loved it. Walking into the amazing Christmas decorations which were stunning, a warm welcome by the front desk staff and a large size family room. We added Breakfast on at check in which again was nice. The only down side to our stay was our toilet seat was broken in our bathroom, which lead to my 7year old falling off the toilet when she used it in the middle of the night, some bathroom floor tiles were cracked and to me felt sharp and when we came down for breakfast there wasn't really staff around in the restaurant so our plates/table wasn't cleared (I ended up doing this, hard to break a habit being a hotel manager myself) and because it was quiet things wasn't replenish such as the bread for toast and Nutella spread for the kids. All in all my children enjoyed it and they can't wait to return."

10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay overall, with excellent staff at reception , a beautiful hotel, immaculate grounds and fantastic amenities. Everything provided was wonderful, and the quality of the food was outstanding, both at breakfast and in the restaurant in the evening. Unfortunately, the restaurant service really let the experience down. The waitresses were incredibly slow when taking orders and bringing food to the table, which became increasingly frustrating. Our dinner reservation was at 6.45 pm, yet we didn’t leave until after 9.15 pm, having only had a main course and dessert. It was also extremely difficult to get the waitresses’ attention. There seemed to be very little awareness of guests trying to make eye contact, and on one occasion, when I had a query about my food, I had to wait a further 15 minutes before I could get anyone’s attention. What made this particularly frustrating was that, whenever I looked towards the entrance, there consistently seemed to be three members of staff standing together talking rather than attending to guests. The same lack of attentiveness was evident at breakfast. When we arrived, there was nobody available to greet or seat us, and we had to rely on the reception staff to come and seat us instead. It is such a shame because the hotel itself, the facilities, the products and, most importantly, the food are all excellent. However, the restaurant service was significantly below the standard you would expect from a hotel of this quality."
