Our favourite location in Darwin, overlooking the wharf, beach, park and wave pool, a quick ascent in the glass lift then short walk to town centre. Loved our waterview suite three years ago and decided to book the same again, even though the prices have ramped up hugely.
As before, I booked through hotels.com, expecting to have the waterfront views pictured in my confirmation email. I was shocked to be directed to one of the few, perhaps the only, suite on the floor overlooking a busy street, shadowed by a sandstone cliff, and requested the one pictured on my confirmation.
Having established that a waterview suite was available, I declined to pay for the upgrade to what I had booked. Management agreed but only because my confirmation stated that, as a hotels.com gold member, I was entitled to an upgrade if a room was free.
The rest of our stay was uneventful, the suite was delightful, well equipped with everything we needed.
Not sure if the problem was with Adina giving agency bookings a lower grade room, or with hotels.com not showing the range of rooms and their prices.
If you can afford it, a waterview room at Adina Waterfront is a great place to stay in Darwin but take care with your booking.
