After the usual hectic family Christmas season, my family needed some peace and quiet in the countryside, without giving up any creature comforts, and it being December, a pool and aircon were not negotiable. Just as well - De Rust greeted us with 43 degrees on check in, so the pool came into use in short time.
The rooms are large, modern, and each individually decorated. The gardens are lush and well cared for. Housemartin is a genuine oasis in the Karoo dessert. The pool srea has a fridge for your perishables and offers gas, weber and wood braai facilities. Firewood starters and necessary tools are provided free of charge. Alert your hots that you wish to braai, and they provide plates, cutlery and even salad dressing as a braai pack - all on the house!
Your hosts Theresa and Jan Venter are friendly without being obtrusive, and a wealth of knowledge about things to do and see in the area.
In your room you will find a daily supply of teas and bodem coffee (not that packet rubbish), as well as a carafe of sherry tp takes the edge off the day.
A highly recommended stay.
