“Great place to stay! Clean, comfortable, convenient, quiet, cozy! We explored all over the north island and this was the perfect “home base”. Alyce at the front desk was particularly helpful and friendly. The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. All the amenities you could need are there. Even a heated bathroom floor!! (We loved that!)”

“There was no air conditioning in the room, so it was so hot I had to leave the front door open. Also, the noise from the cars on the road was so loud that I couldn't sleep well at night. And when I checked in, the hospitality was incredibly rude.”

“We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, and the room was very clean and well organised. The bathroom, towels, shower, microwave, dishes, and hand wash were all provided — almost everything we needed was available. It is a perfect place to stay for a night after finishing a Hobbiton tour.”

Water was lukewarm in shower and we were worried it was going to flood until hubby used his foot as a plunger for drain . Pub music only played till 11pm thank goodness.”

I needed to find a good hotel which is close to hobbit village and that was why I choose this lodge. It was so nice to have this kind of experince. ”

“Had a one night stay following a trip to Hobbiton movie set. Stayed in chalet Frodo which is only a 10-15 min drive from Hobbiton.The chalet is very clean and well appointed. While quite compact it had everything the two of us required for an overnight stay. We had dinner at Osteria restaurant in the main centre which is only a 3 min drive away. Thoroughly recommend Osteria for quality of food, portion size , atmosphere and price”
