Love this hotel, we've stayed here before and will return. Wonderful rooms, staff, and overall experience each time! The following note is only because I've worked in hotels myself and I see how the following miscommunication could have been avoided.
We did arrive at 3am and asked for a later checkout, which was promised by front desk.
Before our late check-out, we had three knocks on the door, but no one was around each time we opened the door.
When checking out, the front desk clerk loudly announced in front of another guest that they tried calling us because check out was at noon and we were late.
I felt that should have been a more discreet conversation and let her know the staff the night before promised us 1pm was okay. She did have the grace to look embarassed but again, as I've worked in hotels before, I feel that the night staff should have added the note to the folio, and the morning staff should have noticed the check in time on that same folio.
While a minor miscommunication, I was driving from BC to Sask for my father's funeral, so as one may never know what their guests are going through, a little grace goes a long way.
