"Host Tracy was fantastic and speaks flawless English. She helped arrange a last-minute tour for us and clearly wants to be helpful. The “treehouse” was beautiful. Not much common sitting within the unit, but between the hammock and outdoor seating we were very comfortable. It was wonderful waking up in the treetops! A yummy breakfast is available for $10. "

"Very nice staff. They helped us set up a night walk tour at a very good price. Great restaurant on premises. Free traditional Costa Rican breakfast. "

"This place was BEAUTIFUL! The grounds are gorgeous and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. We loved the family-owned atmosphere and the breakfast was an added bonus. Our only complaint was that the water wasn’t very hot for showering. But they provided ropes and slippers so we were very warm otherwise. Great stay. Highly recommend! "

"We had to change last minute and the Villas Macadamia had a casita. Turned out to be the best place we have stayed. Plenty of space for the whole family, close to town and quiet. "

"It's a lowkey quiet place right across the street from the shuttle for the cloud forest. Staff was super friendly. We went during the off season, so it was super quiet. There's a shared office space for working from."
"I don’t recommend this hotel. Our room had zero ventilation so it got very hot and stuffy at night. There was no fan or ac so it was hard to sleep. There was zero housekeeping and when I needed items like toilet paper or a towel I had to find someone at the front desk - most of the time staff was no where to be found and the front desk was unattended. The hot water in the shower cut off halfway through my shower twice. The most upsetting thing was that we booked this hotel based on the fact it advertised a hot tub. We immediately wanted to use it once we checked in and found it completely cold. The pool was dirty and unkempt as well. They said they would turn it on but over the next few hours it only got marginally hotter, no where close to being an actual hot tub. Same thing happened the next day, it was very cold and wet out and we wanted nothing more than to relax in a hot tub. We go down in our bathing suits, cold once again. I’m sure they keep it off to save money but don’t advertise a hot tub if it’s never going to be kept hot. It was very disappointing."
"What a wonderful stay!! We got into Villa Golondrina after a long day of travel. The house was spotless, extremely comfortable, and there was a nice welcome package with some items for breakfast the next morning. When I woke up I was greeted by the extraordinary views of the rain forest and the valley below. The house is located about a ten minute drive from Santa Elena where there are some very nice restaurants and places to shop. It is also very well located for visiting the hiking trails into the Cloud Forest. If you happen to have a student studying abroad at CIEE Monteverde, the campus is located about 5 minutes from Villa Golondrina.
If you are visiting the area, please do not hesitate to stay here. Villa Golondrina will be a great home base to see the area. "
"My husband and I recently stayed at Fincas Aquarius for two nights while exploring Monteverde, as we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle.
The location is a little difficult to get to without a good car, but it’s absolutely worth the effort. Fincas Aquarius is nestled in a beautiful valley, with wide-sweeping views all the way down to the ocean. It’s honestly breathtakingly beautiful.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by our host, the incredibly welcoming Jan. He made us feel super welcome, and honestly was such an amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble, even to the point where he rescued us when our car got stuck up a rather tricky hill nearby (tip - get a four-wheel-drive car!)
Our room was incredible, featuring a sleek and modern design, a beautifully comfortable bed, and possibly one of the biggest bathrooms I’ve seen. The room was very spacious, but the main highlight was the balcony, showing off that million-dollar view.
We ate with Jan on both nights, as we didn’t fancy driving into Monteverde after dark. He was a fantastic cook, and it was lovely that he opens his kitchen to guests. The food was great, and he uses a lot of ingredients he grows on-site.
Locally, there are lots of things to do. We had a great time at The Original Canopy Tour, Finca Ecologica San Luis which is just down the road, and El Cafetal Coffee Tour which was fantastic.
Overall, we had an incredible time staying at Fincas Aquarius. The entire experience was fantastic."
