"Staff were very friendly and the food was good. I had an evening meal when I arrived and breakfast on the 2 days I stayed. Evening meal was a burger and 2 glasses of wine that was a little expensive but was tasty and a good atmosphere in the bar where you dine. Room (Fountain Room) was not 'en suite' which was a surprise and whilst there was a 'private bathroom' across the public corridor it wasn't ideal and could imagine might cause a problem with some guests. I also had cause to pull the bed out so I could access the plug socket (there were only two in the room), and it was evident that when cleaning the room, the beds are not pulled out to hoover. Overall would consider staying there again but probably only 50:50."

"Really disappointing stay. The room was unbearably hot from the moment we arrived, and despite using the fan provided and having the window open, so much so somebody could probably climb through, it made little to no difference. To make matters worse, the radiator in the bathroom appeared to be on full blast the entire time, with no obvious switch or way to turn it off. The heat made it incredibly uncomfortable and resulted in a very poor night’s sleep. We raised the issue with staff during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve it beyond an apology and them saying “we did provide you with a fan”. Given the impact this had on our stay, it was disappointing that no compensation or meaningful attempt to improve the situation was offered. Just a mere “sorry”. On a positive note, the room was presented well, clean and had good amenities. Pub was also nice, ample parking too. However overall, the customer experience was poor and not what we expected. I stayed for my birthday and had to retreat home early the next day due to the lack of sleep so plans were unfortunately ruined."

"Good location to use as a base for one or two nights stay. Staff at breakfast and room cleaning were friendly and helpful. Breakfast food was the usual mix of traditional cooked fare with cereal, yoghurt, juices etc. The remote Check in was a little strange but caused no problems. The twin bedroom was small but adequate as was the bathroom. The shower worked well. The house has a large downstairs lounge with TV and views of the seafront which allows guests the option of relaxing outside their rooms. Car parking is the large Free public car park opposite the guest house. Free to stay up to 48 hours. One big negative however was the two single beds in the room. Two extremely uncomfortable nights sleep in beds that were way past their lifespan and definitely need replacing!"

Bayswell Park Hotel

8/10 Good

"A perfect spot with amazing views! Great staff and food. Great location to walk to town in 6 minutes. Beautiful walks along the cliffs and down to the sea. Watched sunset from my bed! Only comment was the wall in my room was very scratched and needed repainting. Just a few hooks and hangers for clothes. Tiny bedside table, rather beat up, with three drawers to put some things. Otherwise lived out of my suitcase. Nevertheless the views and walks more than made up for slight inconveniences."
