Eklo Hotels Montpellier City center Saint-Roch train station
10/10 Excellent
"Our family of four stayed at the Eklo Montpellier Hotel for seven nights, and we had a wonderful experience.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of fresh breads and a fantastic egg station where you could boil eggs just the way you like them. Our kids especially enjoyed this. The staff were always friendly and happy to fill our water bottles with ice and cold water from the bar whenever we asked.
Our room had six bunk beds, and each bed had its own privacy curtain, which our teenage children really loved.
The hotel's location is fantastic. It is right across from the train station and within easy walking distance of Place de la Comédie, the Fabre Museum, many restaurants, and Montpellier's beautiful old town.
One small difference compared with other hotels we stayed at in France was that there wasn't a self-service cold water dispenser in the lobby. Instead, we had to ask the bar staff each time we wanted to refill our bottles. Since the weather was extremely hot, we needed cold water frequently, and I sometimes felt bad asking so often. However, the staff always refilled our bottles with a smile, and we truly appreciated their kindness.
I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. We will return home with many wonderful memories from our stay."
"The room was very large. The hotel is located about 2 blocks from the train station (the TGV station is about a 20 minute tram ride away). There are several restaurants and shopping within a few blocks."
"Overall, this hotel is a good value, clean and organized. Two issues. The first has to do with security. The doors do not seem to block correctly so one occasion I left and my door was a jar the whole time I was gone. The second time mysteriously, a strange woman came walking into my room while I was shaving. I thought I had closed and locked the door, but maybe the lock was broken?
Additionally, they have this cost saving measure where they control the temperature of the rooms from the front desk. This is problematic because the temperature was consistently too hot during a heat wave in Europe. So hot that it was 25° in my room one night and I had to ask the staff to cool it off for a second time. I appreciate that they are trying to save money on air-conditioning but if you have the system, use it and clients should not have to ask twice for their room to be cooled, especially when they have to get up in the middle of the night, get dressed and walk to the front desk to get it done.
This hotel has a lot of potential, but management really needs to strengthen the security and improve their management of this outdated climate control system."
