There is a parking garage with abundant parking and it's located less than a mile from the train station for trips into DC without having to stay in DC. We stayed with two young children and the area around the hotel felt safe and family friendly. "

When we entered the lobby we had a mob at the front desk that were complaining about something, so we waited. The card key had to be run thru twice as it did not work the first 2 times.
