"All was great checkin and service but our last day when returning from our outing our door was unlocked and we had left it locked....luckily nothing was missing in our room."

"Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Not many spoke English but we went very early/just out of season so fewer staff and less guests. We had fun using my little knowledge of Italian and google translate. Pool area was very nice but not very large or deep so nice to take a dip to cool off, not great for swimming. Not much shade. Private beach area nice but nothing open and not allowed in the sea as not in season (no life guard), although website said open in May the hotel staff said June. (A short walk away was a public beach. However, water was freezing so not something we were keen to do!) It was nice and quiet, but towards the end of the week they were doing maintenance getting ready for the season. Spa was lovely, extra money to use as we’d only booked B&B but again staff were lovely and the spa was very nice. We were treated to the private spa experience. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, a lot of pastries but not much fruit on offer. Eggs cooked to order and staff went out of their way to be accommodating. Our hotel room, situated a few steps from the garden, was modern and spacious, with a good sized bathroom with a large shower. Balcony with two chairs & small table and lovely sea view. Only downside was no tea/coffee making facilities or easy chairs in room. Would have been nice to have room for loungers on the balcony. There was a small fridge and a safe. I would stay here again but bring a travel kettle & travel iron. "

"No hot water on check in at 630pm so we were told to go out to dinner and had to shower at 10pm on return. No apology. Supposed “upgrade” was into disability room which we were not informed about. Toilet very high so feet off the ground, shower positioned awkwardly in corner, glass door hard to close. Bathroom door jammed on tile floors and very hard and noisy to close (woke us at night when used). No bathroom window and no extraction fan. Bathroom had a sealed external door with glass covered by sheer curtain which let in light from courtyard lights on all night. Bed mattress hard, pillows thick hard and lumpy (unusable). Bottom sheet short and exposed mattress protector. Aircond not controllable in room, had to ask reception each time. Toilet paper, tea bags and cotton balls not replaced at service, had to request toilet paper. Staff made no apology or offer to change room so after 36hrs we checked out, at which stage they offered an upgrade on the room but refused to refund our unused night (we had prepaid three nights). Buffet breakfast ordinary and extra charge for omelette. Overall a big letdown for an expensive and supposedly top end hotel. "
