Tipu s Mosque

To some, Tipu Sultan was a cruel tyrant. To others, a hero of Indian nationalism. To most people outside of India, someone they never heard of. Whatever the case, his tomb, a magnificent example of Indo-Persian style, was built to impress. It's located in the western part Srirangapatna. Take a short rickshaw ride from the bus terminal or walk the 3 kilometers if you're up for it. Entrance is free, but the person you leave your shoes with will ask for a small tip. #trovember
The mausoleum of Tipu Sultan. To some he was a cruel tyrant. To others, a hero of Indian nationalism. To many, someone they never heard of. Either way, he sure was buried in style. After his death at the Battle of Srinangapatna in 1799, Tipu was buried in this stately tomb, called The Gumbaz, alongside members of his family. Entrance is free, but you may be asked for 5 rupees to have your shoes checked when you go inside. The Gumbaz is a short rickshaw ride from the bus and train stations in Srirangapatna. #history #india
