"Absolutely loved our stay here, the location was fantastic as it was smack dab in the center of downtown Kyoto with so many restaurants and shops located around the corner. The property itself was also fantastic with amazing communal areas like the rooftop patio and kitchens in each building. The staff was also super helpful and received our luggage transfer and helped us transfer to the next city we were visiting."

"Casana Kyoto is a newly built hidden gem in a quiet residential neighbourhood near the historic Gion district. We chose it to get away from the touristy areas while having the modern conveniences of a serviced apartment, but with a traditional Japanese feel. It delivered all that and more!
It's located about 15-20 min walk to the main streets and the popular Pontocho alley. It’s just 20 mins away from Fushimi Inari (1000 tori gates), and a 45 min drive of the popular Arashiyama Bamboo Forest...

"This was my second stay here, and I loved it. The dorm is well maintained, and there is a lot of room for luggage with a little desk area next to the bed. There is also a downstairs common area and tables outside to sit, which means there is plenty of space to relax. The location is very convenient, close to great restaurants and a short walk to transportation."

"Amazing Hostel, would highly recommend staying here. Everything is kept very clean and the stuff was very supportive and kind. Also the location was perfect to explore Kyoto, with several lines and buses in walking distance."

"This was the cutest hostel above a cafe/bar. Breakfast was delicious and we were close to walk to many of the sights and train stations. Would definitely stay here again."

Piece Hostel Sanjo was a great place to stay. There was free access to wi-fi, free breakfast, clean facilities, and very helpful staff. It was in a good neighborhood, close to the markets, shopping, and subways. If you wanted to, you could walk a mile or two to get to the bigger and more well known part of the city. It was a great place to stay. I would totally come back again.

Great place for solo or couples, staff was helpful and even though I came early I was able to lock up my bags before my check in, bring cash for the added tax or just pay with card (extra fee). Rooms are pretty much sound proof, showers were open but private, room is straight to the point and there’s space under the bed for luggage, an open kitchen to heat up your convenience store finds. Around 20+ minutes walk to some nightlife and shopping! For me it was a bit hard to get a taxi but the city...

Great place to stay on a budget, only comment is bring ear plugs because some people snoring can be made louder from the cylinder capsules. Otherwise everything was clean and comfortable, and right outside is a bunch of Korean food that will not disappoint.

We stayed three night at this Hostel’s private room for two so happily that we have recommended all our friends to look nowhere but this place when they visit Kyoto. We will not repeat all the great comments made already by other reviewers. They are absolutely true. What we would like to point out is that the great, thoughtful design and the management of the hotel. You can have all the convenience and comfort with such a reasonable price. Especially if you book a private room for two. It is...

The owner Tomi is extremely attentive and will provide you with a multitude of services within and around the guest house. The traditional Japanese rooms are located on the second floor up a VERY STEEP set of stairs, keep that in mind for luggage and beverages. The onsen around the corner is super nice and you’re nearby to both JR station and local subways.
Tomi also cooks egg breakfast sandwiches daily 7-9 am, has tea, coffee, and cold water/electric kettle available anytime.

Owner was responsive even before we showed up. Told us how to get there. Very flexible with check-in time. Waited for us at the property. Check-in was easy and informal. The place was better than the internet pictures. It's basically a fully functional home. Two stories, 2 BR, 1.5 BA, open kitchen with living room. Next door to a family mart (currently renovating, but a 7/11 is 2 min away) 1 min walk to Nijojo-mae subway station. 2 min from a local shopping strip(3 brothers bakery opens...

Couldn’t have picked a better hostel. K’s house is close to the train station and in a nice, quiet, walkable area. It’s affordable and has good amenities. They let us store our luggage before and after check-in for free.
My boyfriend and I stayed in a single room with a shared bathroom on the 4th floor. There’s an elevator, free coffee and tea, free shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and free umbrellas to use during your stay. You can rent a towel for 100¥. You can also rent a bicycle.

The hostel is in a quiet neighborhood, the atmosphere inside the hostel feels relaxing and is in good condition. What makes this hostel special is the host, he made the stay in this hostel an absolute pleasure! If I would return to Kyoto I would go out of my way to stay at this hostel again.

This is a beautiful property and a great spot for Arashiyama! Within walking distance to a lot of the main sights but still off the beaten track. Very cute and well designed. Most of the other guests were incredibly respectful and friendly, the host was phenomenal. Highly recommend KyoCafe down the road and the grilled meats/seafood stand past the bridge on the main tourist street (hard to miss but didn’t catch a name). Also, highly recommend an early start for the bamboo groves, parks and...
