Garbage hotel , even worse food
Old run down hotel with dirty pool , found toothpicks in my food where I almost choked . Hotels.com didn’t compensate me for this horrible experience, neither did the hotel . Spend your hard earned money somewhere else

Dear Akash, Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on the hotel and we regret that you had such a bad time. With regards to your food, the item in your food wasn't toothpicks, but thyme sprigs which are usually served in our Pasta as the chefs at our fine dining Restaurant use fresh thyme. The chefs did not charge you for the meal since you were unhappy, even though it was no fault of thiers. With regards to the dirty Pool - we have two Pools one in the courtyard adn one on the deck that have been renvoated in 2018 - so it is surprsing that you had an issue - especially sicne we received no complaints during your stay. We explained these issues to Hotels.com that we made no mistakes when you were here - hence did not see the need to refund you for your stay. The above misunderstandings nnot withstanding, we sincerely hope you will return to the Hotel and promise that your next trip will be truly memorable and reflective of how good we really are. We were very surprised at the welcome we recieived It is a lovely hotel and was upgraded to a suite staff are absolutely wonderful well tried by the new french owners who have only required property 4mounths ago They have work going on on which we were told about but did not interrupt our stay Food was superb and well presented Would highly recomend

Eine richtige Perle im Grünen mit zwei wunderschöne Pools und freundliche, hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter: wir waren herzlich empfangen und persönlich betreut. Das Hotel ist seit kurzem unter neuen Management und - obwohl es jetzt schon traumhaft ist - erstrahlt demnächst in neuem Glanz.

Très bien
Très bon Hotel, avec deux piscines. Très agréable pour se détendre, en revanche il y a très peu de choses à voir autour... La carte du restaurant est très bien, quoi qu un peu cher. Les chambres sont très grandes et la literie très agréable.

Where should I start from... It was our first time at Sol De Goa and quite memorable. WHAT YOU HEAR OR READ IS WHAT YOU WILL GET... Acc & Service: This is a Hotel designed with inspiration from colonial architecture, you can see and feel that is everything from the Facade, entrance, the pools, restaurants, rooms... Experience is superior. Amazing staff, I have to say that all the staff were in sync when it comes to servicing customers. Will help you in every possible way they can and are always ready to go that extra mile... Location: Its quite conveniently located just before Candolim, distance just right for you to flirt with North Goa yet have your quite time when you want to retire for the night. Very well connected through the main roads... One can reach places like Baga in about 10 - 15 mins tops. I would not call this a Hotel. It is now a home away from home. I am going back for sure...

Goa Retreat
Sol De Goa is a lovely hotel, we wanted a peaceful retreat and the hotel is set about 10 minutes from the beach by car so there wasn't the hustle and bustle of the roads near the main hub. The room was clean although having seen some of the other rooms in the hotel I think ours was one of the remaining ones to be refurbished as it was quite dark and some of the fixtures were wearing now quite badly but it was clean and the sheets were changed every day. The staff themselves were lovely, very welcoming and keen to help and the breakfast was freshly cooked every morning. The only downside we experienced was other hotel guests being very noisy into the early hours and we had hoped to join the hotel party one night after an invite had been posted through the door but we weren't made to feel very welcome upon entering so we left fairly disappointed. I would definitely return to stay at Sol, overall it was a lovely stay but I would recommend asking for one of the newly refurbed rooms and organise your own driver rather than relying on the hotel for all journeys as they do tend to be a lot more expensive. Wifi was very poor but this seemed to be the case anywhere we went in Goa.

Stay at costa del sol
This has the potential to be a nice boutique hotel bit out if the way if u don't have transport we was disturbed in the night 1am by a member of staff coming in to our room very scary apparently checking someone in!!!!!!!! Wrong room The service for breakfast was not good food obviously not freshly cooked,tea barely warm and coffee!!!!! Shame because good price but needs good shake up The room was excellent, no lift on 2nd floor. Location about ten minutes drive from Candolim

A great value hotel
This is a nice little boutique hotel just on the outskirts of Candolim which is great value for money. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are attentive and helpful - just need to work through the language barrier. There's a great pool which is really refreshing. There's an inner courtyard which makes the place feel like a medina. The breakfast is also great. This place is a well kept secret as most of the guest were Indian - I'd say always do what the locals do! In the evenings the restaurant isn't busy, so follow crowds to Candolim or my favorite Baga where you'll get the best fish tikka imaginable!

Call before u book
Booked for my honeymoon. Was planning to book for 3 days. But, due to hotel amenities not working had to leave the hotel in a day. There are 2 pools 1st in centre of the hotel close to room #4 where I stayed, and 2nd is behind dinning area. You can see water in pool waiting for you to jump in as it is not mentioned anywhere that the pool is not working. Once you ask within few minutes they put a yellow board of pool under maintenance. Not gonna book next time without confirming about pools.. Travelers and couples dnt be disappointed, screwed by hotel looks, structure, rooms. Confirm before you book. Gonna review over tripadvisor and few more where I read reviews about the hotel and made the mistake of booking.. Gonna let users know what hotel it is.

Nice hotel but needs a bit of work
Good location although 30 minute walk from the main area but that meant it was relatively quiet. Hotel was nice but needed quite a lot of maintenance - water leak in the room from the ceiling and marks on the ceiling where there had been others. Room didn't feel luxury as described. To be fair the maintence was being done in the hallways whilst we were there. Breakfast was slow with loads of staff but no- one not really knowing what was going on - so getting a breakfast was uncertain although some days we got two! In the end you just have to go with flow. Food was okay though. Staff on reception were helpful in sorting out taxis.

Peaceful holiday
Beautiful rooms- we chose the King's Abode and it has a lovely view of green fields and tge river. The location is great, quiet and yet not far from the action. Hotel food was good and some of the staff were warm and friendly while a few were indifferent. I'd certainly go back though.

Nice small hotel off the beaten track
Overall a very compfortable stay. The hotel is nice and has the facilities you expect. The reception staff, housekeeping staff etc are very helpfull and service minded. The restaurant makes good italian food but the service is lacking. Orders get forgotten, long wait for a simple cup of coffee at breakfast etc. Location is nice and secluded so if you have transport its fine (as you will need a car to go anywhere)

this hotel is located in peacefull location and enjoyed my stay for 3 nights. Brake fast is served pool side with lushy green fields and mountains in the backdrop. It got 2 pools (4ft deep) and to say perfect for romantic swim. Cozy bed

Could be better
Stayed here for a week in a 1st floor suite overlooking the pool. The hotel has the potential to be very good but lacks in attention to detail. 3 sun loungers for a hotel of this size? I don't think so! Small things like toiletries not replenished and big things like general untidyness lets this place down. Shame, because it could be good.

We stayed at the Sofala over the Christmas and new Year period and the place was rocking. There were functions and parties going on for 6 or 7 nights out of our 14 night stay including a great New Year party. The staff were great and every one of them spoke English with varying degrees of competency. The food and drink was marginally more expensive than the restaurants in the town but rightly so as the quality was superior. We had a lovely comfortable room with great air conditioning which you really appreciate when its 35 degrees outside. Just before our trip I saw some bad reviews on the internet and I panicked we might have made a poor choice but it could not have been further from the truth. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants access to the hustle and bustle of Candolim without being right in the thick of it.

Good Value for Money
It's a really good find. It's not located near a beach but the experience was just as relaxing. Kudos to Simran and Carmalina who handled the reception and all our queries efficiently. Good food and we enjoyed the live music for the Sunday brunch.

Great staff and food was lovely
The hotel is charming but the location is not so convenient. To get anywhere, you have to take a cab and the hotel rate was a bit on the high side. However, the room was nice with a four poster bed. Restaurant food was really nice and the chef is very friendly and helpful - try the Italian dishes and you will not regret it. Pool was a little small but we were spending a few days in a beach resort afterwards so it didn't bother us too much. Overall a pleasant stay.

Its an good scenic property. The AC's went out on the first night of my stay, the room was still comfortable enough to sleep in. They finally moved me to the Suite where the AC was working, so overall a good experience

Lovely boutique style hotel
My sister and I stayed at The Sofala for 4 nights in July 2013. It is located within Nerul, a small village which is not far from the bigger local towns. The hotel itself was fabulous - from the decor and beautifully made up rooms to the wonderful staff. The food available at the hotel restaurant was perfect, with a variety of beautifully cooked Italian cuisine available. Our stay in Goa was during the Monsoon off peak season, therefore there wasn't a great deal to see/do. Nonetheless, the staff at the hotel were all very accommodating and helpful in suggesting activities for us to do - including seeing the spice plantations and Dudhsagar Waterfall - which were fab. The hotel put on some entertainment nights, including a great jazz night, which attracted alot of the locals. Overall, the hotel was brilliant and I would definitely stay there again, hopefully during the season, when it's busier and more to do. 10/10.

very slow service
Hotel was very pleasant, rooms were fantastic, service staff were very friendly, however I was very disappointed about the variety, freshness, quality and price of food and drinks, When we ordered food it used to take 45 minutes for it to arrive on the table, this is when there is only 4 guests eating, the menu was full of pasta dishes and hardly any Indian food, the kitchen did not even have a tandoor, it was just too over priced plus there were 4 different taxes we were charged on top of the bill, no wonder the staff did not get tipped! there was work going on while we having our breakfast, saw dust coming down on our heads, the breakfast was advertised as a buffet but was a disappointing continental breakfast, loved to stay there again but please you have to make some major improvements

Excellent place!!
The hotel is tucked away in a quaint place, yet it is so close to the beaches. It's a very nice and cozy hotel, with extremely friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent and the Thursday night live music and candle light dinner is to die for! All in all, a very good place with great value for money!

Very nice and cozy hotel
It was a very nice welcome that we got to check into our room at 6am which was a nice surprise. The room was nice and the staff were helpful. The pool was also pleasant and the breakfast was very decent. Definitely recommended.

Dieses Hotel war das vierte auf meiner Rundreise durch Goa. Die Ausstattung und Sauberkeit sind gut, gibt es aber auch in drei Sterne Hotels. Das Essen ist mehr als überteuert, die Portionen klein und das Essen fad. Zum Vergleich: ich habe hier das dreifache des Geldes für Essen und Getränke ausgegeben als in anderen Hotels. Da ich auch viel Taxi gefahren bin, kann ich nur abraten, diese vom Hotel aus zu buchen. Diese Kosten knapp das doppelte, als wenn man selbst eines ordert. Leider hat dieses Hotel mehr schein, als Sein...

Beautiful little gem in North Goa
I stayed here in February 2013 and had a wonderful time. The hotel is fairly small, located in a beautifully refurbished old colonial property. On Thursday nights they often organize international live acts in their bar. After checking in I asked for a different room since the one I initially got (beautiful inside) was on the ground floor (I don't recall the number), facing a neighboring property and consequently didn't get much light. They then not only gave me a room with more light but put me into one of their river view suites (room 12), the room was large with a very big fully equipped bathroom and even a little balcony with a great view. For me this hotel could pass as a 5*. They offered quick overnight laundry. They also organized an airport drop for me in a nice car at a fair price (based on my limited experience here) of 1000 rupees. As a final note, the location itself does not allow much walking and is not immediately close to anything of interest (at least in my case). However, I had rented a scooter with which you're at the beach in about 10-15 minutes (and anywhere in relatively small north Goa quite quickly).

Place to unwind for family
Me and family spent 5 nights in The Sol. We really enjoyed the stay in the hotel. Clean room, very good bathroom, excellent service from all the staff, good food, serene atmosphere around, relaxing air. Beaches are not very far. As for negative side, we (especially kids) missed lack of good (large) pool (what they currently they have is a small pond). The path from the road to hotel is not good (if they make is clean, neat walkable one, it definitely will add value). Spa was under renovation, so missed the soulful music while having massage. Food was very costly (but with quality and taste). Though the items in menu are limited, Chef was so helpful to prepare the items as per our suggestions, so we cant complain! Break fast choices are also limited (which I suggest they should look into). The lighting of the room was very dim. There should be at least two bright lights. Overall, we all enjoyed, and will definitely stay there again. Good luck and all the best to The Sol!

A charming hotel with an excellent service
It's a charming hotel, away from the hustle bustle of the crowded Goan cities, yet accessible easily, calangute is about 3Kms. My wife and myseld had an excellent stay. Thanks especially to the staff who were very frendliy and cordial. The only negative if you may say so is the option in the restaurant was not upto par. I would recommend this hotel to any couple who wants a quite romantic getaway.

De netheid van je kamer/hotel - perfect De kwaliteit van de service - voortreffelijk Hotelvoorzieningen - basis, mag iets uitgebreider, vooral het zwembad De locatie van het hotel - in the middle of 'nowhere', maar fijn om uit te rusten en te genieten van alle rust en zon!!
