Gulf of Squillace, Italy hotel rooms at the Independent

"Nice hotel, hard to get to due to road construction in the area. Lady at reception was very helpful with directions and ideas of where to visit. Good breakfast, parking in premises."

"Our room was nice and comfortable with a lovely view out to the sea. It was a modern room I believe recently upgraded. All the staff were wonderful particularly Marika who checked us in and helped get us a taxi from the station. We enjoyed a drink at the bar but being March it was quiet. Breakfast was lovely. "

"It’s OK for passing. Probably is better in summer. The beach looks awesome. Today was very windy so check the wind before you come in the summer. The roads in the city are very bad. "

"Found it difficult to find and when we did phone number was unattainable. However the owner had sent us a message on our phone, which we failed to see. We had very small suitcases thank goodness, you would really struggle to get larger suitcases up the tight spiral staircase. "

"What a great find! OK this is nothing fancy, but if you want a friendly hotel with simple but first class home cooking this is the place for you. We have two wonderful meals, with generous helpings of their home made red wine (delicious) and their own sausages (yum). The room was simple but adequate and the view was wonderful. Made a great change from your usual tourist hotel. They were incredibly generous for breakfast brining in fresh baked pastries both sweet and savoury. our only problem...

"Big unit and ac worked but that’s about it. Weekly clean and towel change only. Everything including pool shut down from 2-5pm in 45C heat?? Espresso and food overpriced by triple than everywhere else. More of a unit rental and your on your own. You can get a hotel for what I paid with full service in a major tourist area rather than this place. Tired building and far from beach, staff service non existent in any front. Seemed like they didn’t want to be there or help."
