Too much focus by owners on pub business with more care seen to be given to diners over guests. Room was dated with missing or broken fixtures and fittings, and cheap furniture. Also a lack of detail given to guests, an example was no milk in fridge to make tea in morning, an error not found until needed. Positives were; outstanding quality of food and very polite staff in attached pub. Location was also very good and amenities were clean. Overall, at price point, only take a small amount of expectation for your stay.

Great location, super clean
Staff are great, the room is super clean and the bed is comfy. Being able to stumble home after a delicious dinner is a bonus.

We stayed one night. Cozy hotel, clean an tidy. Room was a bit cold, but the bed had heating blanket. Nice staff.

Great Victorian country pub, warm open fire great food and a good selection of beer, whats not to like? Room was clean, neat and tidy. Great place for a stay.

The staff show so much hospitality it absolutely made my trip. The rooms are warm and my snow gear dried out overnight. Would be so nice to Reuven for a beer on the deck in summer too.

I liked everything. The room was nice. The Hotel was fantastic. The pub was fantastic. The food was very nice. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. We also loved the town. Its a very beautiful town. Also we met some of the locals and they were very nice people.

Top location at the entry to the Hotham Heights ski resort and a family friendly pub next door with great food, wine and bar staff. Kids enjoyed playing pool every night. It's cold in Harrietville so don't expect the hotel to be 5 star centrally heated as it has a single wall heater on a timer that you have to remember to press boost on every 2-3 hours. The beds are comfortable, shower was hot and strong, drying area got our ski gear dry overnight.

Glad you enjoyed the pub. Our rooms heat up really well with our 2000watt nobo heaters so not sure why your room was still cold. If you read the instructions each heater has a boost timer button to put out maximum heat. We also have extra heaters available at reception in case we have any failures or you just feel the cold more than most.

The quiet and beauty of the area was fantastic and the hotel meal at dinner was really good with a friendly, casual atmosphere! What we were unhappy with was mainly the lack of information and infrastructure We, as a couple, are serious AFL fans so really appreciate a sports footy service, or, at the least, reliable TV. This was not case and we were not informed that there was no TV altogether that weekend until too late! Also the heating in our unit was extremely poor. We did not enjoy getting up every 2 hrs to press a boost switch to make the room temperature bearable - there was no reverse cycle air conditioning - and this in May!

Apologies for the TV outage. You should have been informed on check in that unfortunately the repeater station for our whole town was struck by lightening and left the whole town without tv for a few days. Our large nobo heaters normally keep the rooms cosy even in the depth of winter. We have extra heaters available at reception if people require more or are extra sensitive to the cold. Hope you choose to stay with us again and if you have any issues with your room please communicate with reception in the Hotel and we can solve 99 percent of issues.

Good value for money
Our family of four (2A+2C) stayed for a night. Our request for late check in was warmly accommodated. The vibe was amazing. The bar and restaurant had some fantastic items on the menu with live country music. Best way to unwind after a long drive. Room was decent with all the basic necessities. The only downside was lack of breakfast but Bright is not far from the venue and had plenty of choices.

Very basic room. If you want a toaster, plates, cutlery you have to ask at the pub. There were mugs, tea coffee. Has heating, good for a winter stay. No air conditioning or fan so room was a bit warm. Was clean. Quiet of an evening. The hotel had great food for an evening meal. Didn’t find anywhere in the area to have breakfast.

Excellent weekend in a wonderful location
We arrived around 9:30 pm and got our key from the lounge. The person at the bar was expecting us and very eagerly helped us through the paperwork. The room was nice and big. The twin bed had electric blankets which were really helpful. However, the wall heater could not be operated (our lack of understanding) though the instructions were on the wall. Overall, a good stay and high recommended.

Best option off the Mountain.
This hotel is dated but offers a clean room with a comfortable bed. Great location for easy access to Mount Hotham and nice food in the bar restaurant. The only downer was the lack of sufficient heating in the room, however a staff member promptly sorted this out following my complaint.

Travelling to Bright for the recent Spartan Trifecta weekend, my partner and I only really needed basic accommodation - a bed, hot shower and heated room. For the price we paid, the only real thing I can complain about is the lack of heating. The heater in the room is supposed to stay on to a set temperature unless you boost it to the chosen temp (which has a limit of 2 hours per boost) so unfortunately when we arrived back from the races each day, the room was cold. On another note...even though it is a cheap stay, I would highly recommend putting in a bedside table with lamp (one light for the whole room doesn't help much at night nor having to get out of bed to turn it off before going to sleep) and although you could request them from reception, a toaster and couple of plates and cutlery would be nice as a given. All in all, it's a clean place to stay if you have a budget. No real complaints.
