The property is set in a very quiet and peaceful location with beautiful gardens. The owner clearly spends time and effort on the grounds however, we were disappointed by the lack of privacy in our room, it being directly adjacent to the breakfast room with all the accompanying intrusive noise. We were warned the previous evening by the proprietor that this was likely altho we did not realise it would be quite so loud. We were informed breakfast would be between 8-9am but the noise started at 7.30 am with no respite. When we made our concerns known to the owner she had the temerity to ask what time we retired and perhaps we might have 'gone to bed' earlier. To add injury to insult we were informed that perhaps it might have been better had we risen earlier. We were offered a refund for our second night which we accepted but all costs were deducted. When we asked about any warning to guests re the noise, the proprietor informed us that this issue was highlighted on the web site. We have been unable to find any trace of this notification.
The only disappointing stay we had in the 17 nights we were in the country. This property could be amazing with a little polishing and care. Currently very tired both inside and outside. Not at all like the photos and definitely not worth what we paid for it. We stayed in other more pricy areas of the country paying much less for much nicer properties which showed pride of ownership which this did not. Dusty, stained carpets, gardens required major attention. Bathrooms very basic, with rough old towels. Sheets had seen better days. Rooms could not be locked when you were not in the room so open to everyone. Only a slider from the inside when you were in room. This was very concerning. A very small safe provided but it’s size was inadequate and having to leave all our personal effects open to not only the property owner but also other guests was a problem. Would not recommend.
Havelock House is an exceptionally nice place to stay, a quiet spot only a few minutes drive from Havelock North which has a number of very good restaurants. Diana and Jeff are friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts with lots of useful tips about the area. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
Great little bnb in a lovely area. Close to town but recommend a car to head into Napier and surrounding towns. Hosts brilliant and couldn’t do more to make you feel welcome. Brilliant breakfast and lovely big property with few rooms so plenty of space. Has a snooker room and big pool. Plenty of parking.
Beautiful B&B in a quiet setting but that isnt too far from havelock town. Hosts are very attentive and make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended for a relaxing break
Perfect hosts that helped us coordinate reservations prior to our arrival and gave us great recommendations while we were there! Very quiet gem that was the perfect break from the noisy, busy feeling you have in a big city. Loved enjoying the weather in their garden, relaxing with a good book...listening to the birds.
Property could do with the décor being updated. Bedroom was spacious but pillows were rock hard and tea/coffee making facilities very basic compared with what we have experienced at other B&B's. Dining room and immediate outdoor seating area off the dining room was somewhat uninviting (cob webs under the eves and furniture was old). Breakfast average. Main lounge area had doors closed and although you were able to use it, with it being closed and lights off, it didn't feel inviting to enter the area. Telling your guests to remember to turn off the lights because electricity is very expensive in NZ, isn't something you would expect to read in the in-room information booklet. We have travelled extensively overseas and it is the first time we have ever read such a thing. Not a very welcoming thing to say, given we are paying guests. Diana was friendly and chatty which was nice, but we will stay elsewhere next time.
A very relaxing couple of days away celebrating a wedding in Havelock North. Great spot to unwind in the countryside. Less than 5 minutes to local shops where there were 14 ladies clothing shops (perfect!!). Thanks again, we will return.
Havelock house was a superb find! Pretty setting in a lovely part of Havelock North. Dianna and Jeff were wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be staying here again given the opportunity!!
We were in a very nice suite. There is a small salt water pool to relax in and many fruits are grown on the property which you will enjoy on the breakfast table. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A really great find & we were very pleased with the facilities & the hosts. Their friendly suggestions & help was great. We will definitely be back here again. Thank-you.
Dianah Arnold is a wonderful hostess who knows the area intimately, is vey helpful with her suggestions and willingly makes reservations. breakfast is delicious
Hosts Diana and Jeff were very welcoming. The facilities were spotless and Diana's breakfasts were lovely. They are located a few miles from the town center of North Havlock in a rural setting. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing place this is it. Easy drive to Napier and some great vineyards.
