Shocking
This is not a hotel. It’s up a stair and share the area with a Love Hotel. The poor girl that runs reception has to sleep on the sofa and you wake her up as you get to the hotel. Quite a welcome. The room condition was shocking with flaking walls and a room in disrepair. It was clean thankfully. I have never stayed in anything like this in my 40 years of travel round the world. Yes I took a cheap option as it was a busy period in Rome my fault. But the pictures one the report on this place are in correct. Why was everything in Chinese in Italy?? Maybe that’s were the rating came from.....

Stay very far away from!!
Hotel room was dirty not as described. It was very hot outside so when we leave the room we have the ac on so when we come back we come into a cold room. They kept coming into our room to turn off the AC! The first time I looked at my wife and asked if she did it because I left it on she said no so I kept an eye on it. Later that day when we returned the AC was off again. The room had fleas in it. On our last night their we seen 3 fleas on the bed. My wife was so disgusted we pack our stuff up and Peter early. Very disappointing for our honeymoon.

Ottima posizione. Struttura molto semplice, ma pulita ; servizio pronto ad accogliere le richieste, anche se non tutti gli addetti parlano bene italiano. Buono l'impianto di aria condizionata (i giorni del soggiorno erano molto caldi). Da migliorare l'arredo: mancano ganci e attaccapanni a muro (anche nel bagno, per gli asciugamani). In compenso, i letti sono comodi, con buoni materassi. Anche se nella via ci sono buoni bar, potrebbe essere comodo far colazione in albergo, cosa non possibile, almeno per quanto sono riuscito a capire.Non c'è ascensore e le scale sono molto ripide, cosa che per me non ha rappresentato un problema, ma potrebbe disturbare una persona molto anziana o a ridotta mobilità.

Het is een klein hotel je loopt er zo voorbij. De kamer was ruim genoeg, wij hadden zelfs een terras! Elke dag schone handdoeken, bed opgemaakt, netjes schoon. Bed wel erg hard en een beetje klein. Je moet telkens je sleutel afgeven bij de receptie als je hotel/BB verlaat en hem weer ophalen als je terug komt. Ontbijt is niet inclusief.

Clean Room in the center of Rome.
Walking distance from the sites and restaurants. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Very clean room and bathroom, that's very important. Souvenir shops and supermarket walking distance. Public transportation right infront and terminal 10 minute walk.

Ikke noe stort flott hotell men var rent og hadde fin beliggenhet med gangavstand til det meste av severdigheter i Roma sentrum, for de som liker å gå.Greit hotell for de som ikke har tenkt å oppholde seg på hotellet men være ute og se mest mulig av Roma mens de er der.

Good low cost option
Pros: clean, organized, kind staff (they have borrowed cutlery and dishes), near the station (not very near), enough space, very nice bathroom and shower, fridge, nice neightbourhood, near the metro/bus/market. Cons: no elevators (with a high stair), noisy, both air conditioning and heating were not working, breakfast available for 4 euros each person, but with very limited options (tea or milk, one croissant and a yogurt). Although considering costs and benefits it was a nice and confortable hotel to stay when in Rome.

Very good service for its standard, couldnt be better, clean, proper, perfect service, great location, the only bad thing they have poor english, everything else was fine.

You get what you pay for!
Hotel was ok for the price. I thought the area would have quite a few restaurants and bars but it wasn't that far to everywhere in the centre really.

Place to stay
Overall, it's a place to stay. Absolutely no frills here. The two good things were that the shower worked well and its proximity to Termini. Speaking of proximity, I would have never found it if not for a reviewer mentioning the wood door and it being across from Hotel Montreal. The staff is friendly. This was a very last minute trip, otherwise I think I could have done a lot more for my money

Bra läge
Ligger mycket nära tågstationen där även bussar till flygplatsen går. Nära till Colosseum och andra sevärdheter. Rummet var lyhört, slitet, saknade fönster... Sängen? Ja den var faktiskt stehård men såg ut som en säng... Tror att vi fick personalrummet, Vi fick dock betala fullpris. Dåligt!

Wir konnten von dort sehr viele Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuß erkunden, denn es ist ganz nahe dem Bahnhof Termini gelegen. Die Ausstattung ist einfach, wie es der Preis vermuten lässt. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und ordentlich. Enthalten waren auch Handtücher und das Bad hatte einen Föhn, was nicht sicher aus der Beschreibung hervorging.

Ik heb hier samen met mijn vriendin 3 nachten doorgebracht. Het hotel is klein maar is in goede staat. Personeel is heel erg vriendelijk en zijn altijd aanwezig. Ook spreken ze goed Engels, waardoor ze verstaanbaar zijn en dingen aan ze kunt vragen. Enige minpuntje was het ontbijt. Hier moest je extra voor betalen maar was niet goed. Ligging van hotel is goed. 5 minuten lopen en je bent op Termini. Vanuit hier kun je alles goed bereiken. In het hotel kan je een kaart krijgen (gratis) met daarop de bezienswaardigheden in Rome. Wij kijken samen tevreden terug op verblijf. Als zouden we volgende keer iets meer in de buurt van de pleintjes etc willen zitten. Dit omdat daar 's avonds leuker is dan waar dit hotel ligt. De wijk is niet echt geweldig, vooral niet om 's avonds te vertoeven.

The hotel is in china town. The staff spoke only italian and chinesse and very poor english. Even the tv was in chinesse! The room was clean and breakfast was ok. We arrived at 2:30 and the room wasn't ready they asked us to wait about half an hour or get into a triple room eventhough we payed a quatriple. We had to leave our lugagge and came back later.

Hotel administrado por chineses, atendimento especial da família, ficamos no quarto 606 com frigobar e sacada, aconchegante e satisfatório, considerando o que pagamos. Café da manhã básico no quarto, ótimo wifi e mapa da cidade entregue na chegada.

Péssima localização
Além de ser mal localizado, bairro perigoso, o café da manhã é em um bar na outra rua, com pouquíssimos itens (sem repetir) e péssimo ambiente. O quarto é bom e limpo, mas são as únicas qualidades. Definitivamente, não voltaria a esse hotel.

Hotellet ligger i udkanten af byens centrum, men med et par gode sko kan man gå til det meste. Værelset vi boede på var fint indrettet, god størrelse, rimelig behagelige senge og vigtigst af alt: effektiv aircondition! Morgenmaden var super kedelig (børneyoghurt, kogt æg, brikjuice, kaffe og cornetto), men man fik da lidt at starte dagen på, og kaffen var god. Til prisen et rigtig udmærket sted at bo i Rom.

Dejlig stor seng. Lidt vel støvet på værelset, men den daglige oprydning og håndlædeskift var helt i top. Meget venligt og imødekommende personale. Morgenmaden var lidt kedelig, men det blev stort set opvejet af serveringen. Det lå perfekt i forhold til seværdighederne. Alt i alt et dejligt ophold :-)

Gute Lage in der Nähe des Bahnhofs
Das Personal war nett und freundlich, ging auf Wünsche (2 Einzelbetten) ein. Das Zimmer sehr sauber mit allem, was man so braucht, ebenso das Bad. Etwas laut zur Straße hin, aber das ist eben Rom. Das Viertel empfanden wir als angenehm, nicht so überlaufen von Touristen wie das Centro storico. Trotzdem war alles gut zu Fuss zu erreichen, Sta. Maria Maggiore direkt in der Strasse, Colosseum etc. ca. 15 Minuten. Zum Bahnhof Termini 5 Minuten. Wir würden wieder dort absteigen.

Jag och min kompis stanna på hotellet i 4 nätter. Det var svårt att hitta hotellet för det fanns ingen tydlig skylt. Det är dessutom inget hotell utan ett B&B. Läget är väldigt bra och det är 3 min promenad från centralstationen och nära till alla sevärdeheter. Om man kommer sent på kvällen till hotellet kunde det ta tid innan personalen öpnnade dörren då de låg och sov. Det var rent och fint inne i rumme som vi hade men frukosten är ingen direkt frukost. Man får kaffe, crosiant och en sockerkaka. Inget man vill ha till frukost eller något man blir mätt på.

Decent location, but wouldn't stay again
I was looking for a no-frills, budget hotel for a weekend stay in Rome. Key word: hotel. Hotel Portafortuna is in a building of condominiums - which wouldn't normally be a problem, but you have to buzz your way in every single time you leave the hotel. Plus, if you're leaving early - the front desk is not 24 hours like they say it is. I needed to leave my key for someone else arriving after me and spent 5 minutes buzzing the door at the front office at 7 am, only to have some bleary-eyed man stumble to the door. My biggest peeve, though, was on the first night I arrived. I signed all the documents, went to my room, and went to sleep - I was exhausted from traveling all day. At 10:30pm someone is knocking on my door multiple times - because a single piece of paper hadn't been signed. And that couldn't have waited until the morning? I was furious. Taking a shower in our room was like a show at the circus. The shower head holes have been almost completely calcified, so if any water comes out it sprays in million different directions - and none of them at your head. It was a miserable experience, compounded by a slow-draining floor that very nearly flooded the whole bathroom. The location is pretty good - you have almost a direct view of the Piazza della Santa Maria Maggiore. That's pretty much the only good thing.

I would not recommend. The shower took along time to get hot, and it had a very very slowdrain. I was standing in soapy water to my ankles by the time I finished. My husbaand asked for a double and got two beds....our frie d was a single and got a big bed. Not great breakfast, would noy recommend even at the price.

Close to "Termini" nothing else good to say!
I stayed at Hotel “Portafortuna” on my final day in Italy. I arrived via train to the “Termini” (Rome train station) and needed something close to it. I will begin by saying the “hotel” is three blocks away from the station and this is the ONLY good thing I found about it. I reserved the hotel, which is nothing by an apartment house in the China Town, on hotels.com with the understanding that I will be changed on CHECK OUT. When I arrived to the hotel I found that the card I used to “reserve” the room online was full charged with the cost of the room. When I asked for an explanation I found a language barrier so deep it was not worth my time to argue and demand they reverse the charges. The manager, which I spoke to on the phone, seemed to be under the impression that I needed to “pre-pay” for my stay. The room (610) was located on the second and half floor (40 plus steps). It was spacious room with a balcony looking at a yard (no view at all). The bathroom (in suite) was clean with moldy ceiling. The BED WAS AS HARD AS A ROCK, I spent three hours trying to fall asleep. I cannot speak of the breakfast as I had to leave very early the next morning to the airport (another reason I choose this area). As for the STAFF, they had limited English and no matter how “nice” you are when it comes to service you need to be able to communicate with your guest and English is a very common language to communicate with. Overall, the area is safe, although I would not recommend it for young adults traveling alone. I do not recommend this hotel based on my personal experience, your mileage might vary.

Jag och min 17-åriga dotter blev väldigt positivt överraskade när vi kom till hotellet med tanke på hotellets pris! Eget badrum med duschkabin, kylskåp och ett stort rum med vattenkokare, hårtork och strykjärn. I priset ingick också frukost som kom till rummet så fort man ringde! Rummet städades mycket noga varje dag med nya handdukar odyl. varje gång. Trevlig och tillmötesgående personal. Vi kan rekommendera detta hotell som dessutom ligger centralt (vilket naturligtvis innebär att det är mycket trafik utanför eftersom hotellet ligger i Rom!!!).
