What I didn't like was the dinner I was served at the restaurant attached to the Lodge. It was a roast lamb with roast veges that were burnt to a crisp including the lamb. Everything on the plate was black except the mashed potatoes which were fine and the gravy. I ate the meal because I was starving and it took over 1/2 hour of waiting for it. I have never had roast lamb that was black and roasted to a crisp!

Staff was very friendly. However, a continental breakfast was includedFrom 7 am to 10. The 2nd day nothing had been restocked and it took until almost 9 am for them to do do. Also, the restaurant service was slow. It took almost an 1 1/2 hours to get food. On the 2nd night there was a rugby game and the front desk never told us to make reservations anywhere in advance. We had to put dinner together for my two kids from the grocery store.

Not quite what was portrayed in listing
Walked into a reception area full of paint supplies and ladders. Definitely not welcoming. Then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for someone to come check us in. The room itself was ok, but being on the ground floor and overlooking the parking area, there was absolutely no privacy. I could actually make eye contact with people as they walked through the parking area. When discussing this with the woman at reception, she became very rude and told me "you could get dressed in the bathroom". The point was it wasn't very private. Which was only reconfirmed at 6 in the morning when we are able to hear everyone's conversions as they stood in the parking area talking while we were trying to sleep.... As it is winter, the windows were not even open. Again, the room itself was fine, but the staff were extremely rude and location of rooms vs parking area really need to be rethought.

The staff are amazing. So friendly. Location is easy walking distance to everywhere. A bit dated in the family room we had. We were there to ski, not stay indoors, so it didn’t matter.

This hotel is in the middle of Methven, within walking distance of eating places and a 16km drive to Mt Hutt. Rooms clean and tidy, and cold breakfast provided. A couple of things, a permanent light on outside by reception, meant an eye mask was needed as the curtains are not black out curtains. The other thing was the heating. On a zero degree night, our room was too hot, with no way of turning the heat down. We had to open the window. There was also a noisy vibration that lasted half an hour two of the 4 nights we stayed. A pump or vent somewhere? But it was reasonably priced, and the staff were kind and helpful.

This is a good hotel if you are going skiing at mt Hutt. The rooms are clean and in okay condition. Breakfast is okay.

Being so close to the town of methven was a great bonus as you can pArk for free at the lodge and explore the town for supplies or a pub crawl , try many restaurants .... I ended up eating both nights an the 'crossroads ' as its the bar and restaurant part of the Lodge and both nights they delivered great food . Jan the lady that checked me in was a Gem .👍 The girls in the restaurant and bar also Were helpful and friendly . I would definitely be comming back to stay here again . Cheers

Perfect Location in Methven
The Lodge is located virtually at the centre of town and offered great value for money. Large quiet room on the top floor and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a bath and plenty of light for getting ready. The breakfast area on the upper level provided a variety of cereals & muesli, orange juice, tea, coffee, and toast with a choice of spreads. The Crossroads Restaurant & Bar is on sight and had a nice welcoming atmosphere. The chef was very accommodating to our dietary needs and the meals were very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful - we found everyone in Methven to be friendly. The Lodge was the ideal place to stay for our week of skiing at Mt Hutt. There are a couple of supermarkets 3 minutes walk where you can get some nice fruit etc and the room has a small fridge if needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Love the location! The Lodge is in the heart of Methven and this makes it easy to get to shops, restaurants, and ski & snowboard equipment providers.

Everything was fantastic, including the staff, the cleaners were lovely except the loud music they started playing at 8am. We were honeymooning and trying to have a sleep in after a massive day skiing at mt hutt, to be woken by loud cleaners radio.

Rooms were lovely and warm. Very minor criticisms; TV system had failed that weekend, room needs paint touching up and carpet was stained, but hey, we weren't staying at posh hotel! Staff very friendly and obliging, even went to the trouble of making an Irish coffee even though it wan't usually done. Overall very good value for money.

Very friendly welcoming staff After arriving back from dinner out we decided to have a game of pool for some reason the Barman thought we were standing in the pool table- we were not!! Booked and paid on line when we went to settle they still had outstanding that we had not paid not sure why but after a long wait just paid for a beer we had outstanding from the bar!!
