Desde la carretera BU-623 entre Villamartín de Villadiego y el pueblo de Amaya, casi llegando ya al segundo. Amaya era una antigua ciudad cántabra sobre el macizo que lleva su nombre, hoy al norte de la provincia de Burgos. El castro se convirtió en una fortaleza y después en una ciudad visigoda, capital del Ducado de Cantabria.
