Wakka was perfect - I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was so kind & helpful, the room was cozy & very comfortable, the location was great, and the food was delicious. I cannot think of anything to be done better; it was truly a fantastic stay!
This was a wonderful facility to stay at, the staff are so helpful and the breakfast was delicious.

It was amazing! The room was stunning - we chose the room with private bathroom and kitchen and had amazing views of the water and the bridge. Staff very attentive and helpful.
We booked the deliver and rental service which is extra, they provide luggage transfer from when you arrive to the accommodation and drop off when you leave. Very handy! Also provide a number to call if you need any assistance whilst your on your bike ride.
Can’t recommend this place enough.

I can’t say enough how much I appreciated the staff and this wonderful place. Service was top notch. Breakfast was incredible. For anyone cycling lol
We had one of the tents, which was very comfortable and unique. Excellent staff, and the dinner served outside our tent on a private BBQ was incredible. Also the best breakfast we had in Japan. We rode from Onomichi almost all the way to Imabari, then turned around and rode to Wakka, getting there by 4 pm (good decision because it started to sprinkle rain.) We did not need to use the shared shower because of the (included) entry to the nearby onsen which was full of only local families, so a truly authentic experience. And getting up at night to use the bathroom nearby was actually not a problem either.
Room was incredible- what a view! The only room with availability for our date during the Shimanmi Kaido was the residence so we decided to take the plunge even though it was a bit on the pricier side. On arriving it felt very luxurious and definitely worth the cost! There was also a (very quiet) washing machine in the room which was handy to do a quick wash during the trip/cycling clothes!).
We didn’t do the BBQ on the terrace as we weren’t emailed about it but we definitely wish we had as it looked great!
Excellent, top recommendation! Exceptional breakfast and very well trained and cordial staff. We will definitely come back! Very responsive to our questions in social media! Magnificent views and unique and modern rooms!
This place is awesome. I wish we had stayed longer. We stopped here for the night because it is the half way point for the Shimanami Kaido bike route. The residence was an independent structure with a large window looking out to the sea and the bridge. Sunrise was gorgeous. The unit has a beautiful bathroom, very nice bedroom and new clean kitchen. Everything about the residence was top-notch, including the amenities. The breakfast and dinner that we chose were amazing. Loved this place.
After a day biking in down pouring rain, the staff greeted me with hot tea and offered to bring me a meal to my room. The tent was cozy and peaceful and the facilities were extremely clean, modern and well designed. This is one of the most special stays I’ve ever experienced and I hope to come back again. Thank you Wakka team!
Stayed here for three nights. Excellent, helpful, polite and enthusiastic staff. Great value and great location for exploring the bike trails at own pace. I receieved lots of help over email prior to arrival to help plan the logistics of my trip. If I were to return to Shinamani Kaido, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Wakka came highly recommended by every resource in my research for my first trip to ride the Shimanami Kaido, and my experience showed why. While pricey, service was excellent, the room was amazing, and the location was wonderful. There were some minor issues though that detracted from a perfect rating.
Throughout my stay the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Check-in was extremely smooth, with a welcome drink, and a staff member personally showing me to my glamping tent and explaining everything about the hotel amenities.
The tent was awesome with two very comfy beds, strong AC, and plenty of room to stretch out especially for a solo cyclist. A big problem was the cantankerous door lock that would often not detect the keycard. One time it took me more than five minutes of repeated attempts to get in and I almost stormed to the front desk in anger.
Another issue with the tent that’s shared by all other accommodations at Wakka is the need to use a common bathroom and toilet area instead of having your own.
Also disappointing was the included breakfast. While tasty, you only get one set plate and it’s a fairly small serving if you’re a veteran cyclist who’s used to chowing down before burning tons of calories on a ride.
At least dinner is no problem if you like seafood since there’s an excellent restaurant right across the road from Wakka.
While there were niggles, the overall experience at Wakka is still great. It's worth visiting at least once.
Stayed for one night in the tent and it was worth the splurge. The tent comes with two comfortable beds and a small sitting area, plus an outdoor area which was where we had our BBQ. Note that the tent has no toilet or shower and we had to use the common one which was a short walk away
Amazing stay in one of the cottages. The luggage service was friendly, reliable and efficient. It allowed us to cycle the Shimanami Kaido without worrying about the logistics of moving our luggage. A big thank you to all the staff at Wakka!
I booked WAKKA as a midpoint on my bicycling trip across the Shimanami Kaido. This is a wonderful small inn of recent construction. It worked so well that I stayed an extra night and used it as a hub to bike to art sites on the island and neighboring ones. I especially enjoyed waking in the morning to a wonderful view of the ocean, bridge and neighboring island.
And, the staff is very accommodating and helpful. It made for a great trip.
Staying at Wakka is a complete delight! The infrastructure is buikt to be part of the natural environment. The staff are a delight. The bikes for rental are top quality. The half board meal is full of varieties and locally sourced ingredients. My biggest concern was the shared shower facility, but Wakka kept everything clean and spotless. It's simply a delightful place to stay in and rejuvenate. In fact, our family is planning another glamping stay with them again.
We hebben hier in de luxe tent geslapen, de bbq is een echte aanrader. Prima service, goed uitgeruste tent met goede bedden en airco. Ontbijt is super en goede vriendelijke service.
This hotel is unlike anything I have seen in Japan. It has California/Palm Springs vibes thanks to the modern open air architecture, white washed clean buildings, amazing indoor/outdoor flow, and fantastic location right on the water.
We stayed in one of the private cottages which face the water and we had an unobstructed view of the bridge. Despite being about 50m back from the waters edge, our cottage had an amazing breezy and almost tropical feel. Thanks to the very cleverly laid out cottages, each cottage feels private from the next and has a direct view of the water/bridge. Instead of lining up the cottages side by side in a line, the cottages are slightly angled and offset in a diagonal row, so that there are no shared walls and each front deck is somewhat private from the next. The deck out front had racks for both of our bikes and a spacious seating area (with 2 comfortable Snow Peak camping chairs and a long bench seat) with an awning overhead for shade. We sat there all afternoon enjoying the view and opted for the bbq dinner provided by the hotel, which was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend including the dinner package, as the food was local, super fresh, and so much fun to grill on the deck while the evening sky turned colors over the water.
Wonderfully attentive and friendly staff, many speak decent English, and excellent customer service. I cannot wait to go back, this place is super special.
We biked to this hostel style hotel. The service was amazing. They helped us get our GoTo discounts, drove us to an ofuro, took us to a dinner spot and made us a delicious breakfast. The view is excellent. The bike services are helpful. I loved this experience.
