The 13th century castle ruins are the most obvious evidence of fortifications on the hill, but much older walls encircle the site! Park your car in the lay-by and take a short steep trek up the hill.
Taken from the top of the Hill of Dunnideer just outside Insch in Scotland, a beautiful walk including exploration of the hill and its 2000 year old fort atop it.

The room was fine and the staff friendly, however the gym session starting at 6am directly below my room with blasting dance music and a shouty woman really wasn't welcome at all and spoiled my stay.
