"Staff were very helpful when i checked in here. I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores....

"Lovely hotel, with excellent Japanese breakfast, and kind and helpful staff always willing to go out of their way to help bewildered foreign children. (They even let us check in early when they saw how exhausted my son was.) Rooms also very reasonably priced!"

"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "The team at Birupaku were wonderful, they went above and beyond to help me and my family and we had a wonderful stay. The room was lovely with a huge lounge and bathroom and location was fantastic. "

"A wonderful ryokan with a lovely staff, who also speak good English. We were courteously picked up from Yaizu station and then dropped off when we checked out as well. The room is very large, bed comfortable, and filled with modern amenities. Even the temperature of our private onsen can be adjusted down to 39C (which I preferred). The meals were elaborate and delicious, served in a very tranquil and comfortable setting. I would definitely return in the future. I especially recommend this hotel to solo travelers, as this one of the very few higher end, full service ryokans with a private onsen that accepts lone guests."
"Modern Inn felt more like a hotel, than an Inn! Very suburban, but walking distance to McDonald's, Lawson. But we needed to take a taxi for real sushi."
"The room was clean, and front desk staff was extremely friendly. The only minus was the breakfast staff that said in a tone that was pushy and said they were closing soon . I replied there is still 30 minutes left before the end of ‘breakfast’ and that is plenty of time. ( it was a continental breakfast, breads and drinks only, self serve)."
"We stayed at the hotel as we went to visit the Shizunami Surf Stadium. Hotel was good but sort of isolated. There was only a McDonalds and a 7 Eleven close by. Finding a cab was impossible, so we recommend asking people at the reception to book it for you. They were very helpful! Wish we could have visited their spa but unfortunately if you have tattoos you are not allowed. "
