Older hotel, but right downtown. Walk to the tram, but it was broken down expected to be fixed in June. You can easily walk to bars, shops, and restaraunts. Many, many jewelry shops if you like that stuff. Suggest the M&M city tours for a two hour area tour and great narration!

First off, I love traveling to Alaska. The location of this hotel was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere. The only issue we had, no hot water, talk about a disaster. We got refunded for 2 of our 4 night stay. Because location was ideal, I would book again.

The Baranof is a lovely old hotel and we enjoyed our stay. It's very convenient to restaurants and shops, with an attached laundry that was clean and came in handy. They had staffing issues when we were there, so they were unable to offer dinner, but the buffet breakfast was good. Their heating system is very enthusiastic, and there were no in-room controls, so were were told to open the windows if we wanted the room cooler. This seems like an inefficient way to handle the problem, but that's what we did.

Staff was helpful and hotel was fine. And it was clean. It's a bit of a run down bldg. And it is expensive because it is in Juneau but it is right downtown. We had a room on the back and it was quiet. We were there for a short night before an early morning flight. The staff reserved a taxi for us for 5:30 am. The taxi did not arrive and the morning staff for since that they'd had problems with this taxi company. We had no problem getting a Lyft. The nighttime staff person thought maybe a taxi reservation would be better since it was such an early morning ride. But that didn't pan out. There was also quite a bit of a security line at the airport. We waited half an hour to get through the TSA PreCheck line. But that's not the hotel's problem; they were fine.

They tried their best. Parking lot was a nightmare and minimal maintenance. We couldn’t even use our rental car and had to shovel ourselves out. Minimal staffing for restaurant and bar. Business center printer broken. Heat in room broken. Television did not work for 95 percent of trip. On the positive, room was very clean and spacious. Appreciate housekeeping and our waiter at the 127 restaurant was phenomenal.
