When we arrived there was no record for us staying there, moved to a hotel with same name-same result! Next day we went back and were told everything was fine and reimbursed with a day extra for the one lost. Getting warm showers is hard to get there. Staff was otherwise friendly and the breakfast buffet good.

Kathmandu Grand Hotel is a great place to stay in Kathmandu, Nepal. Ideally located in Thamel area, the room was very clean and bed was comfortable. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the terrace every morning. The staff let us stay until late hours because our flight was late at night. 100% recommended. Would love to go back. Wonderful!

Staff very helpful and pleasant, decent breakfast, room could have been cleaner, furnishings old and worn, worst thing (which is of course not under the hotel’s control) was the endless very loud street noise, even right through the night. This made it impossible for me to sleep so after two nights I was so exhausted I moved to another hotel even though I had paid in advance for a week. I know this is in no way the fault of the hotel but I have to be able to sleep!

Mein erster Eindruck war sehr gut. Die Zimmer waren sauber und schön eingerichtet. Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Insbesondere Shiva der Hotelmanager half wo es nur ging. Er hat mir eine Reise durch ganz Nepal organisiert mit allem drum und dran, Trekking, Junglesafari, Lumbini, etc und das komplett kostenlos, einfach nur aus gutem Willen. Fals ich wieder mal in Nepal bin werde ich sicher wiederkommen!

Greeted by a very rude obnoxious boss, after “arranging” airport drop off via email prior to arrival was then told that it’s not possible at all to get a lift to the airport. Not sure why you would reply yes in email then say no in person, especially when the customer is happy to pay. Final billing amount was different to what was quoted, didn’t realise the price quoted and held against credit card only applied for cash payments and that to pay on card it would cost more. Room was loud and housekeeping phone in hallway went off several times before 8am. Wouldn’t stay again.

The crepes at breakfast were good, otherwise everything else was really disappointing, especially given the price. The rooms were old and smelly, the beds were uncomfortable, it was really noisy at night and the whole vibe of the place was off. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after reading the reviews we were hoping for more.
