“La Veranda Hotel has to be on your bucket list. The rooms are spotless, the staff is so friendly. It’s a few minutes walk from the beach. The Jasmine restaurant downstairs has the best food, Richard the owner is so so nice and accommodating. If you take a 5 minute walk you are in the middle of the entertainment district, great pubs and restaurants. I’m definitely coming back to stay at La Veranda.”

“I was quickly checked into my double room on the third floor, which didn't have a terrace but a small window in the bedroom, the airconditioner could only be turned on by the reception and you had to call them by dialling '0' from your room. There was no bathtub and only a shower cubicle, there was a small window in shower room. The TV which was small, only had a few channels and the signal strength was very bad and no English speaking channels. No safe in the room but it did have a wardrobe...

“The Best Western Plus Larco Hotel is overrated. It's outside the city center (30 to 40 minutes on foot), the rooms are tiny and certainly not what you would expect of a hotel that is rated 4 stars, the breakfast is ordinary and repetitive. They also have a nickel and dime attitude that is deplorable. As an example, they give you one litre of water the first day that you arrive, but want you to pay for it starting on the second day. “Pentakomo Cottage Houses Wir haben Meleni gebucht, sind aber nach Rücksprache anders untergebracht worden. Sehr herzliche Eigentümer, schönes Dorf, leider ein bisschen zu warm. Sehr sauber, gutes Frühstück und nach Anmeldung auch exzellentes Abendessen. Alles hat gepasst.”

“The only thing I didn’t like was the surprising lack of power outlets in the room. I’ve never come across this before, even in 100 year old buildings. There was one dedicated to the fridge, one for the electric kettle, and one spare. By contrast, the 3star hotel I’m in now, has six power outlets, including on both sides of the bed. This is not, in my experience excessive, just standard. The 2 star hotel I stayed in Athens also had more than enough outlets. That’s the only fault I can find with...
