"Good breakfast, wide variety of Myanmar breakfast and bread toasting station, good and spacious dining area. Nice gym with new equipment, but there wasn't service staff there to attend to the room. Sauna is available. However room are not adequately maintained and cleaned. Air con-filter is dusty and there was some smell released initially when air-con is first turned on. I have requested to change room due to moldy wall paper and tiny cockroaches. part of fridge is rusty. Safe is not working well. However, after inspected another two room, I finally settled with the last one which is reasonably acceptable. I stayed there for 6 days without discomfort. To be fair, the staff service are excellent. The front lobby is grand and spacious. Next to hotel has a supermarket. near by there were some restaurant. Grab car or taxi to near by shopping mall are convenient (costing about USD 2-3"

False Advertising at Its WorstI booked a 12-night stay here through Expedia (split into two prepaid bookings: Nov 5-8 and Nov 8-17, 2025), expecting a decent Best Western standard based on the branding, photos, and description suggesting a modern, clean upscale hotel in a convenient location. What I got was a filthy, infested dump that doesn't even deserve two stars, charging prices comparable to actual five-star properties like the Pan Pacific Yangon (where I fortunately moved after just two nights).From the moment I checked in, it was a nightmare:The room was dirty with visible grime. Cockroaches scurried around openly. The toilet was constantly blocked (even when empty), and when I called for help, a staff member tried to unclog it with his bare hand wrapped in a plastic bag – no plunger, utterly unhygienic! I woke up covered in insect bites from the bed bugs or whatever was infesting the linens. Basic amenities were missing: body soap and shampoo dispensers were completely empty on arrival. When I requested refills, staff showed up with diluted mixtures in old water bottles, half-filled the dispensers, refused to top them up properly, and then tracked muddy footprints all over the bathroom floor and even onto the towels. Lights flickered constantly. Internet dropped out repeatedly or didn't work at all. Power outages (common in Yangon) were made worse "

"The hotel is elegant and we were well taken care of. Our Butler, Chris, provided exceptional service at every turn. We enjoyed dining at the hotel and found out meals well prepared and nicely spiced. We will be happy to return to The Strand."
