“Left stranded outside the hotel after staff forgot to leave keys, after confirming directly with the hotel manager that we would be arriving late. We never were able to use our reservation and did not stay after paying in full. I called earlier in the day to confirm, and they gave me the lockbox location and code, but upon arrival by taxi (after midnight) there were no keys in the box, leaving us alone outside with no car. “We didn’t stay! The building was very rundown and communal areas were dirty and it had furniture stacked about the place and nothing like the pictures. The communal toilets were filthy. After walking down various corridors and through doors to access my room the pin code wouldn’t work. I went to find our friends and there was a used syringe on the stairs. Thats when I felt i couldn’t stay. I felt quite uncomfortable in the surroundings. The other room was tatty, dirty and the carpet had stains...

“Beautiful position at base of Haytor Rocks. Parking easy and plenty of room inside and outside no matter what the weather. Staff great. Would recommend try and book with breakfast included. Likely to be a better deal. It is a shame the hotel has yet to install an electric charging point. There is one at an adjacent tourist facility but out or order. Other than that great!”

“I really liked this hotel, it was our second visit but, they completely messed up our dinner. We pre ordered the roast pork but, unfortunately they ran out! We ended up with ham, egg and chips which was laughable, the ham looked like thinly sliced spam, the egg was overcooked and we had a few oven chips! It was so bad we got up and walked out, which i have never done before and I’m 67! I have emailed the hotel but, no reply! We won’t be going back!”
