"Could not recommend this accommodation enough - a real hidden gem! Massive, secure 2 bedroom apartment in a wider bunkhouse complex which was, when we stayed, not occupied. Only 5 mins drive from Kirriemuir and so quiet and peaceful - in the heart of the countryside. Comms were great and all mod cons throughout including WiFi, TVs in all rooms and even a starter hamper! Will definitely book again. The dog loved the outdoor space which is literally ‘on your doorstep’! A+"

"I loved the ambiance of this hotel and the convenient location. We loved the breakfast selection and should have eaten at the hotel restaurant for supper instead of the one we chose. The only drawback was that I didn't realize there was no elevator. However, a staff member volunteered to take our luggage to our room. Everyone here was nice and helpful."

"Staff was very helpful. We had a late check in and they were there to assist. Breakfast was a plus we were not expecting and having a restaurant/bar onsite was very convenient. One downside was that the wifi was not working in our room; but, they did state in advance that not all rooms could reach the wifi because of how old the building was. For a small historic town the room was perfect. Our room had a great view on to a courtyard."

"Great location in Dundee, near to transport links and all tourist spots, bars and shops are within a short walking distance. Staff are excellent here and we felt really welcomed and well looked after. Unfortunately the hotel is past its best and in desperate need of a refurb, new carpeting and a lick of paint."

"This hotel is in a spectacular setting, and the grounds are extensive, as befits a grand building from the 19th century. Inside the decor is in keeping with the overall look and feel of the building, and it's easy to imagine the guests dressed up for meals and other activities. A few things to note - those needing handicap access or an easier means for porting their luggage in or out, have no accommodation at the front door, but rather have to find the (somewhat) hidden notice off to one side of the entrance, which brings you into the hotel beyond the reception desk. In terms of actual indoor property maintenance, there were several relatively minor issues in my room and the hallway outside - including badly squeaking hinges in the hallway that could have been lubricated, a towel rack that didn't heat (bad heating element), a room door that never latched when leaving the room (unless windows were opened), and a step up to the bathroom that should have been marked with tape or other type of contrasting color border. To offset those items, it should be noted that the hotel staff was incredibly responsive - addressing these issues as soon as reasonably possibly. On the plus side, the grounds were magnificent and very well tended. Additionally, if you chose to walk into Pitlochry and found yourself too tired to make it back to the hotel on foot, you could call the front desk and they would send their van driver to pick you up. Overall, I'd give them an 8 out of 10."
