"A beautiful little inn that has two private Sento (baths) and jazz music playing throughout the day. The rooms were clean and quiet. I had a Japanese style room with a futon but Western rooms with beds are also available. Breakfast changed from Western style to Japanese each day; maybe you can request a specific meal type. The Keith Haring museum is just across the street and there were a few onsen and restaurants a short drive away."
"Very difficult to find the location as it it’s nestled in The Forest within a maze of small roads. No laundry readily available and only 2 green tea bags supplied for my three day stay.
That said, it is a beautiful location within the forest.
Could make it more friendly for international guests with various translations, like 90% of other Japanese accomodations.
If you are over 6feet tall (181cm) watch your head walking through doorways 😜"
"This is a great escape from the city and offers many options for enjoying the area or if you have younger children, many play facilities are available. Staff is great as always at any Hoshino facility."
"Amazing place, beautiful location in the mountains. The staff were the best part, picking us up from Hinoharu Station when we asked. Loved it here, would highly recommend as someone who can only speak English."
"Onsen felt like it wasn't real onsen and all the baths were lukewarm and not hot. Room was non smoking but smelt like cigarettes real bad like somebody was just here a day ago chain smoking. Actually bought room deodorizer for cigarettes and left it there. Parking was infested with weeds that sticks to your clothes took me 20 min to remove. Meal was part of the reservation but that wasnt communicated clearly to me. They ended up calling me asking me if im coming down for dinner twice even when i told them i dont need meal since already had plans. Not a big deal but stay tax could only be paid in cash. Out of all the hotels i stayed at japan this place is the only place that said cash only. I wonder what they would have said if i told them i dont have cash. With that in mind i dont think they were being truthful and was just being lazy.
The hotel seems like it has some history but the proper investment is not being made. Could be better if they have the right mindset.
