Great onsen - just the hot springs are worth staying there. The hotel itself is slightly outdated and may need some touch up work, but it looks very traditional and very clean. They won't let you into the hotel without taking your shoes and providing sleepers (which are too small for one of us). Everyone in the hotel is extremely polite.
An amazing and memorable experience. Staff were also incredibly hospitable, even going out of their way to assist my party in booking tickets for the local bus. Highly recommend this Ryokan and onsen experience.
Lovely small ryokan with a nice Onsen. Spacious room with views over the quaint thermal springs village of Arimacho, which was just a short walk down the hill. Gracious, helpful hosts.
It was a beautiful family-run ryokan offering waters from Arima Onsen right to our room, with a beautiful view over the little town. It was relaxing for my family to enjoy and be together, and I imagine it would make a beautiful romantic getaway. The special kaiseki dinner was one of the best I had during my stay in Japan. If you’re into the onsen experience with an understated but delightfully charming and luxurious stay, book this place!
It's such a relaxing onsen resort. It's closed to bus and train. However, going up the hotel is a bit difficult if you have heat luggage. It's a uphill. The resort itself it's top notch. From the clean onsen to the delicious food. You feel reborn after a night of relaxation. I highly recommend this place.
We had an unforgettable experience here. The place is sparkling clean, staff are pleasant and accommodating, meals were over the top delicious with super pretty presentation. Onsen is clean with full amenities. We definitely recommend Arima Onsen Hanano.
Loved how friendly, hospitable and accommodating the staff was in regarding to foreigners. They were super sweet and the food was delicious. Top tier. They helped organized transportation and recommended places for us to check out. Room was super clean and it was just a relaxing atmosphere. The hot springs were taking cared of really well and they also take care of you with their personalized skincare lotion and toners. Leaves your skin super soft after the kinsen hot spring bath
Cleanliness and service were standouts. The public only onsen was small for public use, as at best, maximum 4 men at a time in my view, but 6 to 8 people all at once in such a tight area was very off-putting.
The staff was very nice! They didn’t really speak english, but it was easy to communicate with them. The location is nice and the room was very authentic and pretty! The breakfast was nothing that we expected. It was awesome!! When staying here, you must eat breakfast here. Not an american style breakfast! Very very authentic japanese breakfast that we enjoyed very much. Great experience!!
We love the Arima Onsen Hanano Ryokan. They picked us up at the train station and even carried our bags up to store our luggage. Yes, getting to the inn meant climbing up some stairs. This might be a problem for some people with mobility issues. But the climb was all worth it because the service was impeccable, the hotel was exceptionally clean and the room was spacious. For such a minimalistic inn, it has everything we needed and more. This inn is traditionally Japanese with modern facilities. It is fully renovated and tastefully adorned with ikebana flower arrangements. Our Kaiseki meal was very good and healthy. Our main dish was Kobe Beef which we cooked on a small grill ourselves. It was of very good quality, probably A5 grade. Our breakfast was also healthy. We had a private onsen in our room so we enjoyed soaking in it even more. We also tried the hotel's public onsen and it was also awesome. I am glad I chose this type of accomodation. It was one true onsen experience. There is only one issue, the staff barely spoke English. We could not understand them very well so there were some things that we were unclear. We missed wearing the Yukata for most of our stay because it was not explained very well what should be done or where we can wear it. Other than that, everything was perfect. If you want true Japanese onsen and kaiseki experience at a ryokan, then this type of accomodation is for you. If not, then you can book at the big hotels in the area.
This was my first time in Arima and my first time staying at a ryokan. I stayed for one night and immediately wished I had booked an extra night. I was in Arima for two nights total and wanted to compare two different ryokans to experience the differences. Takayamaso Hanano was an excellent stay that I will remember fondly. I paid for a room with a silver bath and a full board dinner. The ryokan dinner was unforgettable, and the staff were very friendly despite the language barrier I had as a foreign visitor. If I ever return to Arima, I would love to stay here again.
This is an excellent, upscale property that really takes good care of guests. The room we stayed in was very large, especially compared to normal Japanese hotels. The hot spring is well maintained, and the dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
I called them for shuttle service from the bus stop and they came to pick me up. They took me to the train station the next morning. Their telephone number should be listed in the website. I found it from the Japanese language site. This property’s Japanese name is Takayamasou Hanano.
It’s a nightmare walking from Arima onset station pulling big luggage following the guidance of Google map! Countless stairs up Ann down for 1 kilometer. I am exhausted when arriving the hotel. They never gave you hint for visitors taking the trains or offer shuttle service.
