Excellent
This time of hotels( only for adults) are much better when usual hotels for the same price. Rooms are bigger, more comfortable, big bath. Owner met us near metro station and every morning bring us to metro. These kind of hotels in Japan also name Love hotel and special made for couples who want spend comfortable time together. If I know before the trip, I would stay in these hotels all the time. In one hotel we even had sauna.

チェックイン時、予約しているのに予約していないと言われ、どこで予約したか聞かれ、調べた結果「ありました」だって。帰りは、カードで予約し、支払いが済んでいるのに、自動清算機で請求され、フロントへ「支払い済」だと伝え「調べてみます」と言われ、部屋から出ることも出来ず、待たされた挙句「いつ、何処へ支払ったか」など、疑ってかかる始末。ネット予約時に全て控えをプリントアウトして持参していたので良かったが、最悪の対応でした。あと、飲み物は注文出来るけど、食べ物や、つまみ等は全くありませんでした。

Love hotel near arashiyama
This is a love hotel so it's an odd choice for hotels.com to have but the location is great if you want to stay near the arashiyama monkey park and bamboo street. It's not the cleanest (lots of random pubic hair) but the owners are sweet and will shuffle you around to train stations.

Nice hotel close to Arashiyama, beautiful views.
Very friendly staff, even drove me to closest JR station when I checked out. The location is a little farther walk from main JR stations, but it is not far from a lot of main attractions. Room comes equipped with all amenities. Staff speaks a little English, but can understand most requests.

嵐山に近いラブホテルでした。隣の声、通りの車の音がよく聞こえました。一度部屋に入ってしまうと、買い物に出るにもフロントに連絡して部屋のドアを開錠してもらう必要がありました。冷蔵庫には２Ｌのペット水が入っていました。

Great hotel
Very happy with my stay at this hotel. The room was great. Very Spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom and living area. Breakfast was also provided every morning which was appreciated. The location is also great as it is right next to the Arashiyama monkey park and other tourist spots such as the path of bamboo and Tenryuu-ji. The service was brilliant. The couple that runs the hotel were very friendly and helpful at all times. They drove us to our destination every morning which we were very grateful for. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit Kyoto.

虽然酒店是离公共交通远了一点，但热情的经理每天都把我们送到附近的火车站。而且酒店也提供了免费早歺，让我们也省了不少的时间。酒店的房间很大很舒服。

THIS IS A LOVE HOTEL and it's Gross...
The hotel was nothing like the site said. It was an 18 min walk from the train and had flashing neon lights on it when we arrived. We went in and were greeted by a hostess in her pajama pants who lead us up to the room, pushed us in, and all of a sudden we were video calling a translator. I did NOT want to be on camera after a full day of travel from Tokyo and Osaka. We were told that the door automatically locks, which should be a given, but we learned quickly that we were actually locked in. WE COULD NOT GET IN OR OUT OF OUR ROOM WITHOUT ASKING TO BE LET OUT. The remote had an "adult films" option and there was a box of kleenex embedded into the headboard... We are two females who are NOT lovers... There were stains in the carpet and on the bed, cigarette burns in the furniture (despite asking for a non-smoking room), and a dead cockroach in a trap under the sink. God only knows how long that thing was there... They wouldn't give us our money back and we felt like prisoners until we sacrificed our money and left the next morning without checking out.

Important info on how to call the hotel owner
Important! Owner is fantastic. Call him at 075-871-8817. He will pick you up at any of the 3 train stations close by. We stayed 3 nights. He also took us to the train station in the morning. This is classified as a love hotel The hotel is next to the river, it is quiet but the service you get is outstanding. Arashiyama is were the Bamboo Forest is, a must see, the Tagetsu-kyo bridge across the river is famous, there is a temple there and it is a small town feel. I 1st went to Japan some 40 years ago. This was like visiting Japan back then, all without the big buildings and traffic, though there is foot traffic from all the visitors. The Bamboo Forest is gorgeous. Plenty of resturants and 3 train stations. The JR Line Hunkyu line and the Randen (Romance train)

An Unusual Experience
The host was extremely hospitable except that she didn't understand English and communicated via google translate. We booked a triple room but she offered us 2 separate rooms which was a plus. However, just a point to note, there isn't a key system. Once the door is closed you would need to dial 9 to get it opened. Simple sandwich and coffee is served through an opening in the door. May not be too suitable for family with kids. But it was an interesting experience.

Sleazy and TERRIBLE!!! Avoid!!!
This is by no means a HOTEL in the sense that Expedia refers to a Hotel. It should be removed from the hotel list. Once you are in the room, you're locked in and cannot get out. You have to call the "reception" to open the door for you to let you out. Your meals are "given" to you like in prison, through a hatch in the door. When you open the door a Condom machine faces you. A couple of gratis condoms are provided in a bowl next to your bed. Did I say sleazy??? Need i say more? AVOID!!!

Am Anfang etwas ängstlich, was uns in einem Erwachsenenhotel erwartet, würden wir jetzt jederzeit wieder kommen. Der Hotelbesitzer ist sehr nett, die Zimmer sind für japanische Verhältnisse sehr groß, die Lage ist (wenn auch etwas außerhalb) sehr idylisch am Fluß, viele Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe und wenn es mal weiter weg gehen soll, stehen kostenlos Fahrräder zur Verfügung (die gut in Schuss sind). Zudem sind die Zimmer sehr ruhig und die Check-in Zeiten sind flexibel. So durften wir schon um 11 Uhr in unser Zimmer. Der Hotelbesitzer hat uns bei der Abreise sogar zum Bahnhof gefahren. Alles prima also.

overall great time!
Overall really nice stay at Sagano Hotel, have a simple breakfast (2 pc sandwich & a cup of coffee) in the morning is nice. The room is large with big bathroom & big bed. Have a microwave in room so can buy food at minimarket & self preheat. Wifi at room also really good. No time limit for check in, love it! From this hotel we can see the river of Togetsukyo Bridge and have free rental bicycle so really easy to get around arashiyama. But just remember that it is a Love Hotel so prefer for adult only or couple ^_^

Worse experiene ever! Beware!
When we arrived in Kyoto on Sept. 19, we went to the Hotel Sagano and dropped off our luggage. We thought it was strange that they did not use room keys. Then we toured the area. When we returned to the station, we asked at the tourist information center for the phone number to call the hotel to pick us up. We were told that the hotel was not on their list. Another worker there told us the hotel was not “proper,” that it was a “love hotel.” That’s why they didn’t use keys. My wife, niece, and 2 adult boys were flabbergasted. We had no idea the hotel was that kind. I re-checked the listing on Hotels.com, and all it said was Adults Only. I had no idea what that meant. I thought it was because little children run around and cause noise, or something like that. If I had known, I would never have booked the hotel. Also, I expected better from Hotels.com, which I used in Odawara, and many friends recommended to me. Hotels.com says they can not reach the hotel manager to get us a refund. I will never use Hotels.com again. Nor Expedia, who sent us to Hotels.com.

びっくりしました…
正直なところは、ラブホだと知らなかったから、びっくりした。ゲストハウス的に若干手直しがあれば、もう少し抵抗はなかったと思う。しかし、スタッフは親切で感じよく外見と部屋の開閉、窓がオープンなら問題なくなると思う。

Unexpected surprise, not for everyone
Hotels in kyoto were all booked or $400+ per night because of festival. This was all that was left. It was an adults-only hotel. We were naive and did not know what this was. Very dark, secretive lobby. Room was comfortable, however. Owner was very nice - lent us his own bikes to ride into town for dinner; gave us free car ride to JR train station; gave us free sandwiches and coffee each morning for 2 days. Hotel is way out of town but 15 or 20 minute walk to JR train station and to another local rail line. Also 15- minute walk to one of the big temple sites on northwest side of town

Perfect location for exploring Arashiyama, especially since the hotel provides free bycicles. The owner is extremely helpful and he took us to the train station when we left the hotel.

Como en casa!!
Hemos estado muy a gusto en el hotel. El personal nos hacía sentir como en casa. Nos ayudaban en todo momento si necesitábamos cualquier cosa. Mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos de un "love hotel". La única pega es que no está en Kyoto centro y la estación más cercana para llegar a Kyoto está a unos 20min andando (un paseo precioso, por cierto), pero nos dejaron unas bicis para todos los días de nuestra estancia! Además: desayuno a la habitación a la hora que quisieras, lavandería, pelis y series para ver, te hacen la habitación todos los días... lo recomiendo sin dudarlo. Muchas gracias por todo!! :)

Welcoming quirky hotel
Booked this hotel late for me, my husband and daughter and was slightly concerned at the "adults only" rating. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Firstly, the hotel had its own parking, secondly the staff were so welcoming and helpful, even though they couldn't speak any English. With the help of Google Translate on their iPad and our phones we managed to communicate, although some very funny translations came out at times! They lent us umbrellas, gave us lifts to bus stations when raining and could not have been more helpful!! Hotel is in nice location opposite a river and mountains and near Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park. Room had extra bed in for my daughter and had lots of beauty products we could use. All in all a nice place.
