“We loved the ambience of this place. Driving in at night was whimsical with mushroom lights guiding the way. The room was artsy and fun. Breakfast was picture-worthy and the hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. This felt like a great starting point for our Costa Rica trip with a more authentic feel.”

“The view and the owner/hostess made our stay! The personal attention at breakfast was delightful. This feels more like renting a villa with a morning chef than like a hotel. There are a couple good restaurants at the bottom of the hill for dinner. The drive to La Fortuna is 30 minutes. Be aware there is no air conditioning. There are windows with screens on 3 sides of the villa so the breeze is nice. In the morning you’ll hear a beautiful symphony of birds. I would stay here again.”

“My family and I had a great stay here! JP and his associates welcomed us and made us feel at home. Complimentary breakfast was great and the other meals were delicious. The room itself was great given you are in the jungle, so there was no a/c and typical sugar ants but nothing unexpected. The pool and the views were gorgeous. “The location and property are absolutely beautiful! Incredible views! The grounds are kept meticulously! The rooms are clean and neat. The rooms are simple and yet elegant at the same time. The staff were very forgiving of my limited Spanish. A little harder to get to but worth the drive. The restaurant on property was excellent. Just a small sidenote… There was no air conditioner in my smaller room. I knew this going into it and the nice breeze that was almost constant.”

“This property has an incredible view of the volcano and the most amazing trails right on the property. The property is full of wildlife, and we were able to watch spider monkeys swinging from the trees from the balcony of our room, as well as watch a variety of native birds and other native creatures without going anywhere else. “I found the staff to be very rigid with any additional requests. I was expecting a traditional bacon and eggs, but it was more like bologna bacon / guess it’s cheaper to feed guests. The butter was spoiled and expired the same month. It was orange and had a weird taste, and the staff would not help in supplying butter even an additional cost. The restaurant seems to be highly priced, especially for Canadians.”

“Lovely self sustaining eco resort in the midst of the forest. We loved the food, the coziness of the cabin, the yoga classes, and wandering around the property. The farm tour and the night tour were fun activities to do with a 4 year old. We did not like: occasional smell of sewage around the property, especially around the pools. Dated bathrooms in cabins - needs a refresh. Construction noise around the property. ”

“The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun. “Our stay at Belcruz was absolutely amazing. From the staff, to the grounds and the food everything was five stars. The breakfast was the best we’ve had on the trip and the dinner was 5 star restaurant quality. The best part was how family friendly it was our kids had an amazing time exploring the trails on property, seeing the wildlife and playing with the B&Bs dog Rocky. If I could rate it higher I would. Absolutely fantastic experience and we will be back !!!”
