There are good hotels near the convention center. The palms where I stay it was a little bit far.

Only complaint about the convention center is the lack of seating and work space area outside of the conference rooms. There were a lot of Realtors sitting on the floor trying to get work don in between sessions and a real lack of seating. It was somewhat annoying .

There was a huge cowboy type convention going on with lots of cute cowboys all over which my cousin and I enjoyed checking out!

24/7 pool hall just off the strip. Good rates about 10 an hour.
