Rockrivers was super convenient located steps from the train, near lots of restaurants and places to go and see. The staff was great and the breakfast buffet was delicious.
The room is well located close to train station and bus stop to reach Machu Picchu. Close to restaurants and bars, without the inconvenience of loud noise until late at night. We really liked the bed, the number of available plugs in the room, the consistent hot water and water pressure when showering (really not granted in Peru). The room was very clean. The stuff very friendly and knowledgeable. The only real improvement would be breakfast, little variety and no real savoury options. It would have been nice to have eggs and some meaty options, moreover considering that visiting Machu Picchu involves long days with extensive walking. We would stay again in the future!
Great hotel reasonable prices. Complementary 2 botles of water in the rooms, nice breakfast (cold), clean rooms, great location. My room did not have a window but it did have a king size bed. Note no elevators if this is important to you.
Great hotel, conveniently located. Super clean and cute. Request the room with a balcony over the train track. The others look like they were enclosed with no windows. Not sure. Breakfast ended at 8:00 AM which was really weird to me. Most continental breakfast that I’ve experienced in the US and about 10 o’clock. Wasn’t very helpful if we were sleeping in. Would be very helpful to have a to go breakfast for those going on an early bus to Machu Picchu.
Very friendly and helpful staff, also happens to be right above one of the best restaurants in town. Very nice and easily walkable to anything needed in town
Friendly helpful staff. Very accommodating. Ponchos is a great restaurant.

Perfect Machu Picchu stay
Perfect hotel for your Machu Picchu stay. Great staff especially Sonia who checked me in and Chacon who greets you at breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable, shower has hot water and great water pressure which was ideal after a few days hiking. Restaurant connected to hotel is also nice with more nice staff and offers room service which again after days of hiking was perfect.
I would absolutely recommend the Rock Rivers hotel for your stay in Aguas Calientes. Sonia and Chacon were so helpful and kind. The rooms are perfect for a 1-2 night stay and the hotel is steps away from the bus that takes you to Machu Picchu. The breakfast is delicious and I can't say enough good things!
Best location in Aguas two minutes to bus or train station and not up hill like so many others. Great restaurant at hotel .Smart Tv in the room and comfortable bed. Sonya is a fabulous host who can assist you with anything you need I would definitely stay here again
We has a great time at RockRivers hotel
Our train arrived at almost 11 pm. To our pleasant surprise, the hotel had sent someone to pick us up (with our name on the board), clean hotel, superb breakfast.
Overall the property was great and I would definitely stay here again when I return to Machu Picchu. I was really happy with this hotel.
The room was clean and beds were very comfortable. Not many amenities provided but this is understandable being we are in the mountains. Staff was very nice and helpful. The front desk was not staffed the hours I walked by, but the restaurant staff could handle double duty if needed. They did meet me at the train station and escort me to the hotel. Which we above and beyond. As for the surroundings. There were plenty of restaurants and bars near by, lots of shopping and scenic tours you can do. This was a great hotel, I do recommend!
This, by far, was the noisiest hotel I’ve stayed at. Chairs scraping on hard floors, every footstep on the open staircase, loud music, carrying voices, slamming doors. Just the worst.
The room did not in the slightest look like the pictures. It was a stuffy, tiny room with no window to outside; rather, it opened to some kind of shaft that allowed no fresh air.
I paid about US$90/night, which is a little higher than other local hotels.
On the bright side, the restaurant was excellent and the staff were friendly.
I would not recommend this property and regret my choice to stay here.
Mountain views are nice. The train tracks are right behind the building and the trains can be very loud! The breakfast options are very limited and they only gave 2 eggs per guest. It was mostly fruit and bread. I went to pick up my bags at 9:30am and no one was at the front desk.
We spent the night here before going up to Machu Picchu. It was a short walk from the train. The rooms are above the restaurant….so there are some stairs but we didn’t find them to be a problem. We were shown to our rooms quickly and they all had comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, and small balconies.
We went out shopping (there are so many shops and restaurants here!!! Hard to pick one but since we got 10%off at their restaurant we decided to eat there. Yummy)
We wanted to play a game before going to bed and we could do that in the lounge area.
We had a lovely breakfast early the next morning and we were able to leave some of our packs there while we visited Machu Picchu. (Very helpful)
I would definitely stay here again. The staff was very kind and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable
Had a great stay at Rock Rivers. The staff also coordinated with my girlfriend to surprise me with Peruvian wine, cake, and a decorated room for my birthday when we arrived. We arrived very late (around 9p) and were quickly checked in. The rooms are clean and warm. The free breakfast is a great benefit. Had an enjoyable stay here!
Great place to stay if going to Machu Picchu. The staff are so helpful, the bus stop to go to Machu Picchu is just across the road and it’s a 1min walk from the train station. We also LOVED the restaurant “Ponchos” which is just underneath. Definitely reccomend!
