Just pulling out La Ferme des Mares, a charming establishment that provides everything except showers and an apology or discount for providing showers. Should you decide to visit, my advice is that you check the hot water before accepting the keys so that you don't have the unhappy experience of discovering an ice cold shower upon waking the next morning. And no one at the reception to assist you until 8:30 AM when you need to check out.

Bel endroit.
Endroit très agréable,très bucolique tout près de l’embouchure de l’Ay qui ouvre une baie marécageuse,juste magique ! Nous étions logés dans une chambre très spacieuse,néanmoins équipée d’une salle de bain esthétique mais peu fonctionnelle : en effet la baignoire « à l’ancienne » interdit de prendre une douche sans transformer la pièce en piscine ! Petit déjeuner très copieux,table du dîner très convenable,dans un espace qui aspire à l’intimité et au raffinement. Week-end très agréable dans son ensemble dans cet établissement.

Très bel endroit ! Dommage : pas de plateau kfé dans la chambre et pas moyen d’augmenter la température de l’eau vraiment trop juste pour une douche et impossible pour un bain. La recherche de l’«économie» (pour l’hôtelier) est flagrante !!!

Excellente adresse. Service très professionnel. Endroit très calme et bien placé pour la visite de la région. Divers sites à moins d’une heure. Surtout, ne manquez pas le repas du soir, succulent!

Very nicely appointed Normandy hotel in country.
Definitely a hotel operation. Very professional. Big tastefully modernized Normandy farmstead. Great atmosphere. Hosts upper level tour groups, as well; so breakfast can be lively. Good rural location close to British Normandy DDay beaches, Bayeaux and the shore.

Only been here for a few hours so far but already managed to sample the pool, beach, shops and restaurants, as they’re all so close by! It’s really quiet, despite it being Saturday night and so close to town, but the layout of the apartments has been done so you can hear the sea and not much else. Looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.

It was an overnight stay, on the way to St.Jean -le-Thomas. Very welcoming, helpful service - both of us disabled, so baggage taken from our car to our room when it was pouring with rain, was a good start. Clean comfortable room with full facilities. 5 star evening meal. We knew the village well. My wife's French cousin had lived there.

Excellent accueil de Sonia et Mike qui se sont pliés en quatre pour nous. Le lieu est enchanteur, la bâtisse magnifique et rénovée avec goût et sobriété.

Hotel with a Heart
The hotel was chosen due to location to intended business - far surpassing what was expected the hotel has character stamped upon it by the owners - a delight to stay in with peaceful & beautiful surroundings - friendly and helpful owner and staff - food was excellent - would be happy to visit again as a 'getaway'- a taste of Normandy I will never forget!

Restored farmstead in beautiful Normandy
La Ferme des Mares is a beautifully restored farmstead run by a young couple, the husband being a very gifted chef.The location feels remote, but is actually close to beaches and steps away from lovely walking paths through the salt marshes.My only somewhat negative comment is that the breakfast is a bit sparse for the price.

Wonderful find in Normandy
I stayed here with my two chidlren in the family suite for two nights in August 2013. This is a lovely property in a small village near to al the D Day sites, the beaches, etc... It is incredibly picturesque and well appointed. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and assited us throughout out stay. We had dinner one night in the restaurant. It was a traditional french meal which even my children loved. Our room was very clean and comfortabole and I hope to return someday.

Well situated, quite and peaceful with good views.
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The owners were especially nice and very helpful.

Litet, mysigt och en underbar natur
Bra litet familjeägt hotell. En gammal hästgård som är omgjort till hotell. Lugnt med en mysig atmosfär. Fina rum och barnen fick ett eget rum. Kan varmt rekommendera om man vill ha det lite lugnare och närhet till natur.

Tres bonne nuit dans cette tres jolie chambre familliale Petit bemol sur le petit dejeuner car meme si nous sommes français nous mangeons salés le matin et il n y avait rien de salés ! nous avons donc tres peu déjeuner pour 9, 50 ! Meme si le petit déjeuner de notre petit dernier a ete offert ca fait un peu cher ! Par contre les viennoiseries etait tres bonnes

Propre, net et confortable mais un peu froid.
Bien, mais aurait pourrait être très bien avec une déco un peu moins froide et impersonnelle; on s'attendait à qq chose de plus "campagne maritime normande", même si le confort (bravo pour les draps !) était au rendez-vous.

Treated poorly by the owners, not pleasant
We were very disappointed to find out when we arrived that we were not able to have dinner at the hotel - which we booked specifically for the restaurant reviews!! Anytime there have been restrictions, I have been advised by email from the proprietors in advance - but these owners say that Hotels.com doesn't provide them with our email details, which is curious because the other 2 hotels we stayed on this same trip sent me direct emails prior to confirm specific requirements, so I am inclined to think that these folks weren't completely honest in this regard. What perturbed me more was the manner in which the owners spoke to us, they were so condescending when telling us that we would have to travel to another town!! to have dinner - they treated us like it was our fault that we hadn't called to book the restaurant in advance. Who ever thought that if you booked a night at a hotel that they wouldn't have room for you to eat there!!!!!!!!

Hotel très agréable, confortable, et chambres décorées avec beaucoup de raffinement (peinture, mobilier). Les repas sont de très bonne qualité, avec de la fantaisie et du savoir-faire. seul point négatif: ne pas prendre la chambre au-dessus de la salle de restaurant, car il peut y avoir du bruit tard dans la soirée en cas de repas prolongé occasionnel.
