Stayed in a private room which was clean and well-sized, and the ensuite was also sizeable. Staff were lovely and the hostel also serves food. Common showers are available for use after check-out which is a bonus. Can walk to several restaurants from the hostel. Would stay again.

The food was ok, but expensive with tiny portions. The AC didn’t work anywhere and the rooms were hot boxes which made it difficult to sleep well and I felt miserable. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel. They’re building a Baoba Bed soon in the city which will be better.

Great hotel, very friendly
Great hotel, very friendly. Good cafe downstairs and bar on the roof and travel desk for various tours around Mandalay. Also some social activities on different days of the week.

Highly recommend
Great hostel,lots of facilities and extras,great travel desk,definitely recommend the 3 ancient cities tour. Fab rooftop with nightly events and good happy hour for cocktails. Food really fantastic. WiFi and aircon also worked well. I had a from to myself the first 3 nights,only on the 4th night were there others in the room and noticed some of the bunks a bit squeaky. The mattresses were foam and a bit narrow but that’s not uncommon in Myanmar. It was also a sheet and blanket to sleep with whereas I’m more of a duvet girl but that’s just personal preference.

It was an old hotel converted to a hostel. Stayed in a private ensuite room. Breakfast was basic but good enough. Location was good.

great short stay!
Had a great short stay! All meat pizza and chicken fried noodles were soooooo good. Our private double room was in really good condition!

Un bon plan
Merci à Luc (?la personne qui y parle français) pour sa compréhension quand à notre souci de réservation. Cet endroit correspond vraiment à ce que l'on recherche en voyage en solo : pratique, convivial, infos. La chambre double est belle et bien équipée. Petit comptoir agence très efficace aussi.

Nice and cheap hostel
I booked for 2 nights but the staff misunderstood that I booked for 1 night and made my bed and took my backpack away. One Burmese female staff was no help at all and told me if I can't find my bag, it means someone stole it. I freaked out, but I talked to another staff who helped me get it back. Then I found out my money in that bag was stolen. It's my fault to leave my bag around and not in a locker (under the bed). The locker is a cage without a padlock. You have to bring a padlock otherwise it's useless. I told the manager and she tried to help me anyway she could, and ended up giving me a compensation for the lost amount. I didn't want to accept it. She took responsibility and I appreciate that. Anyways, the hostel has a friendly vibe; it is full of energy and nicely decorated. There are different events each night for you to join. They offer free towel, soap, shampoo, cigars, coffee and drinking water. Breakfast was moderate (fried rice, toasts, jam, butter, and watermelon). I stayed in a 8-bed mixed dorm with ensuite shower and toilet. The down sides are the water pressure and the fact that there's no amenity tray in the shower. The room is quite spacious and air conditioner works fine. Mattress, pillow and blanket are comfortable. There are two universal plug sockets and a lamp on the top of the bed. I stayed at the bottom bed, but from the look of it the top bed is pretty high. The hostel is easily accessed and it is not in some deserted neighborhood.

Good hostel, disappointing city
Good atmosphere. Helpful staff. Food and drinks prices not set for budget travellers, but water, tea and coffee are free - as is breakfast. I didn't like Mandalay, though- it's not suited to pedestrian tourism (you need taxis and journey time to see the sites).

Mandalay ostello
Staff is always full of smiles and eager to help. The area around the hostel is kinda drab and the taxi stalk you at the front door. The wifi is a little slow in the rooms. Towels and soap are provided. The pillows are too firm and the beds squeak. Over all good hostel.

Personally think it's overpriced for what you get but then accommodation seems expensive in Myanmar. Location was OK. Noise travels through the hotel when people outside. Good rooftop. Probably wouldn't stay there again

A lovely respite in bustling Mandalay
In my opinion, this is the best place to stay in Mandalay. It's welcoming with a fantastic rooftop to relax and drink beers on...Matt was beyond helpful, helping me to book another hostel in my next destination. (Twice*). I would absolutely stay here again. The free Burmese cigars and coffee all day were, in fact, free and available all day! Cheers :)

Best Value and Experience in Mandalay
Ideally located in Mandalay which is a very vast and spread out city, 2 blocks from the moat and within the most active and vibrant area in town (NOTE: I am talking about Myanmar, not Thailand!). The formerly named Hotel Rama is quickly becoming the local hub, with a nice rooftop sunset drinks hang out, free pasta tasting (just tasting, but try their food menu which is excellent) fantastic staff, newly renovated rooms and finally showers our way (NO leaking or spraying all over the bathroom). What do you want more? Mandalay itself has lots of attractions but you need to walk/drive a bit, I extended 2 nights but I still did not see half of them. With the 4 flights cheap direct flights now, and more to come from Bangkok I am sure I will be back at Ostelo Bello!

The staff was nice and some of them were able to communicate in english. the location was convenient. I would stay here again after the construction is over. Also, I wish they had blockout curtian for the small side window as well.

Mycket vänlig personal, men usel mat. Mycket störd av tutande bilar på gatan utanför. Massor med mygg. Sängen var bra.
