"This is one of the most welcoming places I have ever stayed! Dorothea is a wonderful host, and I can see why guests choose to come back year after year! She gives all guests recommendations of local eateries and places to visit upon arrival and loves to chat to get to know people. She is even learning multiple languages on Duolingo so she can speak to guests in their own language!
The room I stayed in felt very authentic, it was clean and had great amenities as well as some special treats-complimentary water, prosecco and baked goods. The team will make your bed and clean your bathroom each day too.
The property itself is beautiful-we were even lucky enough to get a tour of all the rooms as there were no other guests booked during our visit, so we got to see the traditional trulli rooms, which have all been hand built by Dorothea's father (hence the name-Trulli D'autore-Trulli by the author).
Breakfast was amazing-so much food and so many options (bread, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, cakes, fresh made-to-order scrambled eggs using eggs from the chickens Dorothea keeps at the B&B) and also included some meat made by Dorothea's father and cheese made at a nearby masseria. Dorothea also offered to leave a piece of cake in my room each day if I was too full to eat it at breakfast which was a lovely treat!
I cannot reccommend this place enough!"
"A very beautiful and quiet and relaxing place. The breakfast was amazing; the pool was very clean, the stuff was very polite, the facilities were incredible. Highly recommended. The coffee was also delicious."
"The hotel room was beautiful and immaculately maintained. The hotel staff was beyond attentive and hospitable. We were greeted in the parking lot by two staff members that proceeded to help with our luggage. We were then served tea upon our entrance.
Their BROS restaurant was superb! Excellent service and a great meal!
Even their "resident" cat, which we endearingly nicknamed Puccia (for the Puglian bread) Martina (for the town) was so so friendly. His name during our stay was Puccia Martina.
The grounds were so private and peaceful.
In a great location close to town. We used this as our home base and drove to places like Locotorondo, Alberobello, Ostuni, and several beautiful beaches.
Would not think twice to stay there again."
"A charming home in a quiet part of the city. The pool was a great extra during the warmer days. The hostess was wonderful and was readily available to answer questions. A short drive to city center was an added bonus."
"Kept in touch with hosts on our way there re timing changes as requested. Always had a response almost immediately after sending message. Route there from the main road is very single track, and a bit tight in places, especially when the car hire company gives you “…a little upgrade….” Toyota Yaris or equivalent is now an MG SUV - nice for longer drives but a little wide for some roads.
Warm welcome by Giovanni - thank you for speaking English to us. Short tour of estate and the lovely pool area but only opened at 10:00 (hubby likes to swim lengths in the morning and couldn’t) then to the trulli we had booked, which was amazing. Very chintzy but cute and clean. Kitchen is equipped if you want to eat in, although fridge is not particularly cold, and quite a few of the plates (also chintzy) were a tad chipped. Only downside was a/c located in living area not bedroom, and, apparently by Italian government law, is set to 26degrees, which wasn’t very effective. Not shown how to operate it and no power off button on wall thermostat so only way to turn off when we were out for the day was pulling the plug out. Be aware that the toilets here are very low to the ground, which doesn’t help if you have arthritic knees. The toiletries in the bathroom smelt really nice. TV channels limited. Free WiFi but poor connectivity. Beautifully kept grounds, quiet guests whilst we were there. If you want a peaceful, unique place to stay, then this is definitely the place for you."
"What a wonderful three-night stay we had in Martina, in no small part to Sara and Francisco, who were amazing. The room itself was fantastic; we've stayed in Trulos in Italy before, but being in the heart of the old town as well felt almost fairytale. The room was superbly fitted out, and Sara's decorations made it extra special."
"Excellent stay! The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff members were friendly, polite, and always willing to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
One thing I really appreciated was the convenient parking area, which made arrival and departure easy. Having breakfast included was also a great bonus, with a good variety and a pleasant start to the day.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!"
"It is a wonderful hotel ideally located in a very beautiful small Italian city. It has a park like setting that contributes to a relaxing visit. And its restaurant on premise provides wonderful food and wine making for an excellent end of day experience"
