We refused to stay there.
Our son, who lives in Melbourne, observed the motel the day before our arrival and was concerned that we had already paid. His comments on the motel's appearance and general upkeep were most unflattering. When we arrived on the afternoon of Tuesday 13 December my wife refused to accept the accommodation and indicated that, as far as she was concerned we would go elsewhere even if it meant forfeiting what we had paid.. I was in agreement but preferred to try to, at least. recover some of our cost. I indicated to one of the managers?? that we would walk away, no questions asked, if he refunded us half of our payment. He declined the offer, hence my telephone call to you.

filthy, hair on outside of pillowcases
This was the worst ever motel experience and I hold Hotels.com just as responsible for even advertising such an appalling place on their site. We did not end up staying, as we could not bring ourselves to stay in such filth. $135 out of pocket and a 1hr drive home was not ideal. All I can say is enter at your own risk, this place should not be allowed to service the public.

Outside of complex was very untidy. Rubbish lying around etc. No spare pillows.Only 1 chair. Overall only really 2star rating. Plumbing was very noisy.

worst hotel I have stayed at
Positives: easy to find and close to royal show grounds, room appeared clean and bed was comfortable. Negatives: in very unkept condition, insufficient ammenities (no cutlery, just mugs and a plastic spoon), no microwave and power is only available if room key is inserted in a controller which meant the fridge was turned off all day when out, however it did freeze the drinks overnight so they stayed colder longer lol. I felt uneasy staying alone the first night and ended up having a friend come stay with me, when we got up the next morning and walked to our cars we had to be careful not to trip over a drink can with a syringe inserted in it.

very ordinary rooms
hot water to slow to heat, tv remote not working, air con control not given out, graffiti on wall, staff are really great. for an emergency one nighter this ok but not any longer. one room had a horrible buzzing noise as well

Do not stay here!!
Everything was filthy! Room has not been cleaned, sheets had not been changed. 1 towel given for twin share, asked for another & was given a bath mat! Staff not friendly or helpful. Horrible place!

Felt very unsafe
There are a lot of people permanently living there that look like they are doing it tough, some have just finished their sentences. I felt very very unsafe. Don't leave anything valuable in the room. Room was old and stinky and the electricity turns off when you leave the room meaning the fridge turns off too. Don't stay here, it's not a normal motel, something is a bit off. It shouldn't be open to the public.

Have paid money for cleaner & better conditions
On arriving at the motel I couldn't get straight into reception as I was met by some Indian guy who then had to push the button at reception desk to release security on the door. Wasn't overly friendly. Seems there are permanent residents Boarding/ lodging at the motel. No money spent on renovating rooms as they're shabby, old outdated & look derelict & falling apart & (lucky I had my own towel) as there was no guest towel in bathroom & no bar fridge in room. Bed was ok & comfortable & was able to watch tv & that was all I say had going for it... Disappointed with the money I paid for it :(

UP GRADE of rooms
We are from Mildura and my husband had to have a procedure done at the Footscray Public Hospital. Having to stay for over a week, I was looking for a motel that was not too expensive and close to the hospital. It is a budget motel but was disappointed with the lack of facilities, eg microwave, bedside lamps and bath mats.

I whould not recommend this motel to anyone
My experience was bad filthy place no cutlery,no nothing and you charge $95.00per night for what Most of the people there where permant again i was ashamed to have had to stay there

OK but noisy
It's basically OK for a cheap motel, bed was comfortable. But man was it noisy! People yelling, banging, honking car horns and a huge argument going on between a patron and a manager at around midnight.

very run down motel with dubious permanent guests
would not recommend this Motel at all. got woken up during the night with loud swearing and yelling and threats being made by an unknown person to a motel resident. The Motel is very run down and needs demolishing.

No-frills Motel but Inexpensive
One of the beds(the queen-size one) had bedbugs, the bathroom door did not have a lock or even a door handle on it, and the second week we were there the shower drain spewed sewer water into the floor of the shower. They moved us to another room but the sheets in that room had not been changed, the ceiling had water damage, the AC did not work as well and was noisy, the bathroom sink had one loose kitchen-type water faucet and there were no chairs to sit on.

We stayed 2 nights at this motel. At first we got a free upgrade to a family room and I thought woohoo something going right. Jeez was I wrong. The bathroom was filthy, the carpet was dirty and the bedspread looked unwashed. We were moved to another room which was clean and tidy. We had no-one in the rooms next to us which was great. My bed had cigarette burns on the bedspread. The shower had a cigarette butt in it. and the grill on the AC was broken. The first night i pulled back the bedspread ready to go to bed and had no top sheet. we checked the other bed as my friend was about to get into it and lo and behold no top sheet. all we had was a sheet, blanket and one of those motel bedspreads. I don't even want to think about if that blanket had been cleaned or not. the second night things got worse. we had the reception guy come to our room to tell us that our shower was leaking into the room downstairs. i had just finished in the shower when he left. we both had showers in the morning before leaving anyway because we felt dirty from the beds not that showering there helped much. We had people go into the room next to us on the second night as well and they were obviously on something. they talked all night at a million miles an hour and you kept hearing banging noises coming from their room. we pretty much got out of there as quick as we could on our checkout day. we couldn't afford to pay for a second lot of accommodation otherwise we would have.

Terrible and absolutely discussed
We booked 2 rooms. The first smelt like urine, had a thick dust build up on every surface and the bathroom shower curtain was covered in mould. We asked for another room which was a little better but the beds were filthy and clearly had not been cleaned. They appeared to have fun stains all over them.

Clean but needs major refurbishment
Bathroom sink did not drain properly. Window vent in bathroom extremely filthy. Graffiti on inside bathroom door. Shower water temperature fluctuated from cold to scorching and back again a number of times. Fridge had no temperature control and froze everything inside.

Was after cheap accommodation and thats what we got cleaned up i think it could be a good spot not to far to travel to the city or other places around the CBD.

I would avoid staying here.
be aware that what you pay for is what you get, cheap does not mean value for money. Not a great area, got a shock to see a security guard at the local McDonald's. Seems to have more permanent residents than visitors, and the permanent residents don't seem to be of the hugest caliber.

room had stale smell, pillow cases had holes, no bedside table or bedside light, powerpoints cracked and dilapidated, no lights in bathroom, paper thin walls, no towels, fridge had vile smell, air conditioner from the dark ages and to cap it off - police in attendance at 6.30am taking someone into custody.

Terrible motel
Dirt everywhere, carpet stained, dead bugs and hair in bed, sheets were grimy, lights in room did not work, electrical plug hanging off wall with wires showing, mould creeping up shower walls, shower head did not stay up, room smelt really bad, could not see out the windows - they were too dirty, killed several cockroaches under the bed, noisy fights and laughing at all hours of the night from other guests, the list goes on but i would rather forget the experience. Only positives - the fridge and air conditioner worked well.

Stayed at this motel some 30 years ago, basically it is OK, but in desperate need of maintenance, even simple maintenance such as weeds in garden, one toilet seat hinge was broken.

Disgusting "superior family" room.
My experience of Palms Motel superior family room was sadly disgusting. The bed sheets hadn't been changed from the previous guest, one of the two coffee cups was cracked and filthy, the designated table had a bar fridge on it, the bed side tables were covered in fresh cigarette burns onto a painted, but not sanded or cleaned surface. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed and was littered with various stains. The only fresh air was through the bathroom vent which was clogged with dust and dirt. I wouldn't recommend this accommodation positively to a refugee. Finally I was told that there was no cash kept on the premises so I couldn't obtain a refund for my cancelled last night and going through Expedia is not as easy as one would imagine.

You need a GPS as the trees out the front completely obscure the motel. Buildings are very old and noise is a major problem through the walls ceiling and front window (no sound proofing what so ever) no Wi-Fi service available was my room was to far away!!!!

The worst I have stayed at
grotty looking bedding , I put a cover over the bed ,used my own blankets . Graffiti above the doors, slamming doors. Drug use in the car park . I had to clean the bathroom before use !! I have photos !!! Couldn't close the windows , cold room . Felt very unsafe !!!! I left early!!! And booked somewhere else !!!!! No shampoos, no towels .

The room was little more than a bed. I had to ask for the room to be cleaned on arrival. The fridge didn't work and there wasn't the ability to workin the room unless you sat on the bed.
