“Large familyroom with perfect countryview. We had fres crepes with the family and had a great stay. Comfortable rooms, good parking next to the street and nice breakfast.”

“I love the quirkiness of this hotel which is also a bar & a tabac. It’s typically local French establishment with no pretensions. The dinner & breakfast is of a good standard & satisfying. The bedrooms are clean & somewhat eccentric, so it helps if you have a sense of humour. It’s right on the D393 which is a fantastic biking road between Bar sur Aube & Dijon. I use it at least twice a year, so will be back soon. ”

“The room was ok, but missed airconditioning. The staff is not very helpful and they only speak French, they even do not try to speak English or try to help you. When you run a hotel and only speak French that is not the way to do. Food is good, taste and quality.”

“Accueil très chaleureux du propriétaire. Chambre très bien avec des meubles anciens mis au goût du jour , douche gigantesque. Très bon petit déjeuner avec gâteau maison, fruit , laitage, confiture fraise maison . Nous y retournerons. Très bonne adresse.”

“Our check in could be described as perfunctory boarding on the brusque . Upon arrival and pressing the bell we waited a few minutes and someone came along. Didn’t introduce himself or even say “ Welcome etc”, just “what is your name, then your room number is, handed over keys and asked about breakfast. We weren’t even told about the residents lounge ( which we discovered the next morning - a bit too late by then). Rooms were moderately clean, with a couple of spiders and cobwebs in the ceiling...

“The room was spacious and warm. The owner met us on arrival, he was very nice and spoke French clearly and slowly so we could understand. He was very helpful. Breakfast was excellent, good choice on offer and the coffee was great excellent. We would happily stay again.”

“Room spotless. Comfortable bed & lovely bathroom. But awfully small. Could only open 1 bag at a time. Check in instructions only came through 10mins before our arrival. Just not good enough for us. But all in all (& for the price) was excellent. Chaumont is a beautiful town. Buffalo Grill brilliant!!”
