Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain

Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain

8/10 Good
"I did not do any research because I did not expect to stay in the area, except for the expedia listing, and I have several major issues with this booking...This is a state park complex and facilities, and it was not at all clear that this building "The Lodge" is completely separate from the main Bear Mountain Inn and all the amenities. It is a half-mile walk to get a coffee from the hotel coffee shop. It is a beautiful walk after you get off the road and are down by the lake. The lodge lobby is a little run-down (and quite the disappointment after being in the main building); however, the room itself was actually very nice, with good linens and comfortable beds. Expedia also implies that the pool is part of the inn, so I was looking forward to a pool experience by that main beautiful building. The pool is also a walk from either the lodge or the main parking lot - is not a hotel pool and you have to pay for it. It is a great pool, but old school - the changing room is institutional. IF you stay in the lodge, make sure to go to the main building and explore - it is worth it!"

"Great place to stay when a single overnighter is needed! Was heading from central NH to pick up family at the Newark airport and wanted to avoid stress and the 95 South Nightmare. So, I headed straight west to Brattleboro, VT to Bennington, to Troy then followed the Hudson to this hotel. Then it was a pretty much a straight shot south to Newark with no highway madness (until the last 5 miles), but hey, that's city life."
