Room was spacious and clean however the location is not convenient if you don’t have a car as it’s around 20mins from Nagano station. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus to the station which is good but the bus only runs about every 1.5h.
The staff being "very helpful and nice" is often the most important factor for a great stay.
A clean room is a baseline expectation, but having it be "big" is a wonderful bonus that adds to comfort.
A "welcome drink & snake every night at the lobby" is a unique and generous touch. It shows the hotel goes the extra mile to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
The room was spotless, the bath was clean and wonderful . The buffet was amazing !
Only reason for one less star than perfect was that it was super crowded and the elevators could not handle the needs of all of the guests . We took the stairs several times

Check in Staff- Ms Hiro.. She made the check in experience very wonderful.. she was really detailed with the breakfast & dinner booking.
Definitely must go for the half board option! Dinner menu is the same in all our 4 nights stay..
Careful of the lady on 3/F guarding the Onsen, she is a little angry Grandma style.. but very necessary to ensure safety and order.
Very friendly staff. Did not speak much English but made efforts to understand us and cominicate with us. Rooms are clean and big, small bathroom but very clean. Breakfast included (huge buffet). Free drinks from 9:00 to 11:00 pm. Much appreciated
A disappointing experience. Some positives. The rooms are spacious but tired. Some of the staff are hospitable but others treat you like a child on a school camp. The hotel is tired- stained furniture and vet hard beds. Breakfast was nice once you got through the school camp like military set up - I appreciate they have a lot of guests but this is unnecessary. I did not eat dinner as Theo nul choice is an extremely expensive buffet. The supermarket across the road has good bento boxes. Top marks for the lovely shuttle drivers - it’s a 30 minute run into the city and the shuttle is great and such nice staff there.
This has been by far one of the best hotels. The room isn’t of super high end luxury, but the onsen was one of the best. The buffet for breakfast competes with the level of a high end Las Vegas resort.
And staff is excellent and multilingual.

The room smelled smoky tabaco. Worker brought air cleaner though. Room size was big enough.
Breakfasts were too much, buffet style, we couldn’t eat them all.
The area is picturesque with nice views of the mountains. There are two supermarkets and a petrol station close by. The interchange for the highway is 2 minutes away. There are a number of restaurants fairly close. The yakiniku restaurant gets booked up pretty quick so be sure to make a reservation. The former Sanada residence and military school are worth taking a look at too. They are just a couple of minutes away.
The hotel itself is fresh and clean, with free sparkling wine, beer and snacks in the evening, then free spirits as a nightcap from 9pm. The onsen baths are a good size with access to a smaller outside rotenburo.
The Japanese style room we stayed in was spacious with a separate seating are next to the window with a mountain view.

Liked: Cleanliness
The room was spacious and comfortable. The facilities are old but clean (though I noticed some water stains in the toilet).
The check-in staff was kind and helpful, but the person I spoke with on the phone tried to charge extra for breakfast even though it was already included, which felt unreliable.
However, the bath and breakfast were excellent, so I’m satisfied overall and would stay again.
Beautiful views of the mountains and walkable distance to Matsushiro Castle Ruins. The location is a bit far from Nagano City so I takes a bus to get back to city for more dining and nightlife options. Breakfast buffet was great with a huge variety of japanese and western choices.

One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. Super nice room, huge amount of space, two very comfortable double beds. Very nice sitting area, great view. Very nice onsen, and very very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended!!
Very nice spacious onsen hotel with shuttle service from Nagano station. Abundant breakfast and dinner. Good reservation system for table if there are many guests, so you don't need to wait in line. Nice lounge with snacks and drinks.
Large hotel with a nice large Onsen for guest use. Rather far from central Nagano. Need to either take the hotel bus that goes every hour or take the local bus. Supermarket and Lawson store within walking distant from 5 minutes.
Breakfast available on site. Good selection. However if staying several nights it can get a bit repetitive.

The building is huge, but is old, furniture is old, bathroom hardly any lights. Couch had a stain. The onsen outside the rocks are chipping away n the rocks in the outside are accumulating calcium. Hotel staff very friendly.
