More like a pub than an expensive motel. Food was good though and room was good. Just very expensive for what it is. So just know you are paying for the remoteness not the quality of the hotel.
The rooms are tired!! Fan looked like it was going to fall out the ceiling. The beside lights did not work. The television worked intermittently Aircon was so noisy.
Shower grout was dirty As was the kitchenette area
Just tired.
Great staff. Friendly service. Good atmosphere. Coming back again next year for Garma Festival.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I do not like the fact that I have emailed Wotif twice and place of accommodation once seeking a refund of additional guest fee of $74.73 because additional guest was not able to come. As yet I have had no response. This is very poor service on behalf of Wotif.
The location is good and the restaurant is well positioned.

Limited choice
Room was clean. Staff were busy but polite. Rooms small and bathrooms very cramped. Not a lot of choice in Nhulunbuy and way over priced for an obvious 3 star hotel at $330 a night. Meals expensive but again not a lot of choice do Owner’s capitalising well.
Really nice staff
good restaurant
Great spot for campers
Need more car parks

Ridiculous price gouging
Ridiculous price gouging as only one other hotel (on the outside of town) so no competition.
Paid equivalent to a capital city 5-star hotel, for a twin room and definitely not 5-star.
Twin room cost significantly more than a double, yet there is also an additional charge for each person over 1 in the room.
You cant use the other bed unless you pay extra although twin costs more!
Arrived and put in a double room.
Told that because I had booked with Expedia (actually Wotif) that not their fault - despite confirming my booking with the hotel the week prior on arrival was told no twin rooms.
Restaurant food better than I expected though unless you are in a tour group - chaotic.

Arriving Early for Outback Spirit tour
I have stayed here three nights as part of a tour group to Arnhem Land. The Lodge has good facilities but the most impressive aspect of my stay was the staff. They were very helpful friendly and courteous. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was great and the pool I swam in every day.
Staff did not know about details such as breakfast that was included.
No one there to greet me on arrival- no sign to say where to go it unattended.
Tv in room- no channels that worked
Stayed at the Walkabout Lodge twice in July 2015. The rooms were very clean including the toilet and shower. The bed was very comfortable as well, no problem for a good nights sleep. The aircon was ok, a bit on the noisy side and when I stayed the second time the aircon gave out. [electrical problem]
However the manager soon fixed the problem and transferred me to another room.
The restaurant was well run with pleasant, smiling staff. The food was also excellent.
Breakfast was self service, a minor point, no tea spoons, for coffee or tea.
If there is one item that could improve Walkabout Lodge it would be to clean up the surrounding gardens as well as the front of the Lodge, FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT.
Meal at the restaurant was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. ( although they should really pick their time to be vaccuming. It was a little rude to be cleaning while guests are eating breakfast. It has a huge open area for kids to run around and play equipment as well.
