"The location is a good reason to stay here. In 5 minutes I was at the centre where many restaurants are located, so had a good number of food places to choose from. The Promenade and beach area is also short walking distance. The Masséna square is nearby and you can continue walking to the Old Town, to the Cours Saleya marketplace and also to where Castle Hill is. It was a very convenient spot to stay without paying the higher prices you would if staying right by the beach area. The hotel itself was comfortable, good enough space, not crammed like some places can be. Good shower pressure. "

"Perfect room and location was brilliant. Breakfast was very good, and hotel clean. Only downside was when we arrived we were charged €150 for three people, we was told this was to cover incase anything was charged to the room from the restaurant or the bar. We had no intentions of doing this but still had to put this down as a deposit and it wasn’t listed in the fees when we booked so was an unexpected cost which wasn’t factored in. Yes it was returned upon checkout but took a chunk of budget out of the holiday spending which we didn’t factor in or cover to transfer extra over into euros from sterling."

"Comfortable and happy stay at Mama Shelter. The bed was super comfy! Staff are very welcoming and friendly. A little walk from tram stop and seafront but very near Nice Riquier station - perfect for day trips - and only a few minutes from a good range of restaurants and bars. Buffet breakfast decent with a good amount of choice. Options for the restaurant and terrace menus are a but decent. The room had no kettle so way of making hot drinks, which is disappointing, and surprising given the level of hotel. I also couldn’t get the air conditioning to work. I kept forgetting to ask reception about it but at one point the control screen said “centrally controlled”. It meant the room never cooled down and it was uncomfortably warm at night which meant poor nights sleeping despite the comfy bed. Overall, I liked the hotel, but the warm room and lack of coffee/tea making in room would probably mean choosing elsewhere if I returned to Nice. "

"The day of check in there was no information that the front desk closes at 20:00. When we arrived later, we received our room key from housekeeping. Despite the listing saying that parking was available, 1) it’s only available upon prior booking and 2) someone from the front desk had to let you in to the underground. That’s to say, we had to park elsewhere. The room was relatively clean, but the bathroom had a persistent smell of sewage. The only resolution was making sure the door was always closed so the smell wouldn’t come through."

"The hotel is in an excellent location. The staff was friendly, and the lobby was neat and clean. The room was large, and I loved the balcony views. The only issue was that there were no phone ports close to the bed. Neither did the bathroom have any electrical outlets. Other than these, everything was perfect. "
