We arrived to the Red Elephant to a parking area which was not cleared of snow enough to fit our vehicle. The stairs and entry way were also not cleared of snow and the stairs were packed solid with snow/ice making it rather treacherous to navigate with luggage. Our room had a broken and non-functional doorknob that was literally falling out of the door, the only way to close the door was via the deadbolt. The room had a large sticky spill right in front of the bed which we were immediately stepping in. There was food and trash throughout the room though it appeared the bed had been made with fresh linens. The smoke detector had been removed and there were wires dangling from the ceiling where it was supposed to be, we soon after found the smoke detector just sitting on a shelf in the bathroom. The toilet was full of urine because it was broken and wouldn't flush. A gentleman came up and "fixed" it but it ultimately broke again after a few flushes. We again reported the issue and it appeared to be fixed by the time we returned later that day. It really seems like the owners of this establishment just don't care. They don't clear the snow from their entry way which pretty much says they don't care about the safety of their guests. Our room was dingy and unclean, in fact I bet there is still trash underneath the bed. The bathroom was grimy and dirty. I understand it's an old building but that doesn't excuse the uncleanliness or disrepair.

Love the red elephant!

The owners are very sweet and we enjoy every time we go. We hike a ton, and the location you can’t beat with restaurants and trails within an easy driving distance. We loved having breakfast before heading out to the trails. Nice and accommodating always and helpful with our questions. We’re quiet and keep to ourselves, so it’s perfect for us as a landing zone.

Nice rustic weekend getaway. Huge snow storm made parking difficult due to small parking lot. The breakfast was delicious the room was cozy it was nice to relax but I couldn't figure out how to get the hot tub jets to work. All in all cozy and comfortable stay with minor issues that didn't really take away to much from the get away.

Toilet was broken. Had to remove back of toilet to refill tank each time it was used. Rusty chain on flush mechanism was pieced together with broken rusty wires. Toilet seat was loose and almost fell off. Was told not to call resident owner after 8:30 pm and had to work with broken toilet until next day. We had a 2 night prepaid reservation and checked out after one night and requested refund. Owner was rude and belligerent. He refused refund and said he could have fixed toilet with a screwdriver no big deal. Property in general disrepair with large hole in ceiling in hallway. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

It could be a sweet stay as the host is very nice, and you can tell he tried to make the place clean and welcoming. The location is very convenient. Parking is a bit tight but manageable. However, the facilities are run down. I had to fix the toilet flush myself, and the bed made huge noises corresponding to every little movement. Also, the wifi signal can't reach half of the rooms in the Inn, where my room was one of them :(. I hope someone could help him out and renovate the Inn for better experiences.

The Red Elephant Bed and Breakfast was all we could have hoped for in our New Hampshire stay. Rob was accommodating to our late arrival. The farm breakfast in the dining room in the mornings was the highlight of our trip. Quaint and oozing with charm and beautiful scenery in the Autumn.

Unique accommodation, great location.

Very quaint little B and B place, unique decor and location. Unfortunately, could have been cleaner, especially the bathroom which was quite dirty. Door handle hanging off. Breakfast average but had a great tea and coffee station, fruit and cookies were a lovely touch.

Charming country inn!

My husband and I stayed one night. This place is old and but very charming. Staff were kind and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Price was outstanding. We would book again.

Nice stay at Rob’s place. It was a cozy, warm space and he made us feel at home. Our room and bed was very comfortable. Walkable location to restaurants. Overall condition of the place was older than expected but we still felt comfortable! Nice view of the mountains from our room

TV was 14” & didn’t work most of the time. Wanted guest to operate on Hot Spot & couldn’t connect. Toilet was 8” from shower, hard to use. We were in the 2nd floor top of stairs. Would not recommend. Breakfast only available 8:30-9:30-not convenient if you wanted an early start. There are many better choices in this town.

Disappointed

Friendly Host however very Disappointed. Stayed only one night. Very run down. uncomfortable bed, tiny shower that leaked on the floor and not very clean throughout. Photos online looked quaint, but are obviously from long ago. Breakfast didn't start until 8:30. Kind of late for those with plans for the day. We left at 8am with an apple and were not offered anything else :(

Where do I begin. Person who checked us in was rude, the door knob on our door was broken, toilet did not work properly, kept getting stuck, room was dusty. When we tried to get cream for our coffee, we were accused of breaking the rules even though we read in the house manual in our room to get it out of the fridge. We were told to leave immediately or the authorities would be called. We were insulted and called “stupid”. These people should not be running a bed & breakfast. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!

Das Frühstück ist hervorragend. Man bekommt ein "3 Gänge-Menü" und alles selbstgemacht und hat fantastisch geschmeckt. Einziger Makel an der Unterkunft: die Stufen und die Tür zum Bad haben gequietscht,man hatte Angst alle werden wach und der Wasserhahn der Dusche hat ständig getropft. Ansonsten kann ich die Unterkunft voll empfehlen.
