Beautiful view from our balcony overlooking Hallstadt Lake. Very quiet. Room was very basic but spotless and bed comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyable. Staff very accommodating with electricity converter.

We had a wonderful time in Obertraun at Hotel Haus am See. We will definitely try to stay here again in the future. For prospective guests: staying here is worth it—read the check in details that are sent, ask questions through the message portal on Expedia, and use google translate if you’re struggling. Our experience with the hotel staff was wonderful.

This was such a beautiful and remote spot close to Hallstatt. It was right on the water, with amazing views. Check in was simple and it was very peaceful.

Pros: The hotel's location is truly a dream, offering a magnificent lake view. Also, the rooms were very clean. On a positive note, the gentleman at check-out was very friendly and kind, which we really appreciated. Cons: Furniture & Amenities: The furniture is very old and outdated. In the room, there are only two plastic cups—no kettle, no tea, and no coffee. It’s quite disappointing to have zero facilities for a hot or cold drink. Service: After 3:00 PM, there is no staff available. More importantly, there isn't even a single vending machine to buy water or a soda. Parking: We paid €18 per day for parking directly to the hotel. Whether this goes to the municipality or not, it is an expensive additional cost. Verdict: You pay for the view, but the lack of basic hospitality and the outdated interior make the stay difficult.

There is much to recommend this property. The price is good, the location is right on the lake, and there is a ferry that can take you to Hallstatt, which is lovely. It was extraordinarily clean, self check-in was easy, the gentleman at the desk in the morning was friendly and helpful. However, I had a soft mattress and cheap, lumpy pillow, which would keep me from staying there again until they upgrade.

Hotel Haus am See is surrounded by natural beauty. We loved the view of the lake, the numerous mountain bike and hiking trails. It has a cozy family restaurant close by and a few authentic coffee cafes. The rooms are very simple and very small but the little balcony made it better.

Not that impressed with the hotel but it was close to Hallstatt and that’s what we wanted. The hotel was close to the boat dock and that made things nice. Our room was very small but we did like the view from the little deck. There is no elevator so we had to carry our bags up the stairs. Overall it is fine for just one night for us.

One night stay - it’s a short five minute walk from the train station which is a big plus. Excellent view of the lake and Hallstatt. Basic rooms with no AC but otherwise clean and tidy.
