The site that you pay for is lovely and has a great view of the valley. Another option is to hike to the grainery across from the site on the other side of town. We did this hike as well and, although steep in places) it was one of our favorite things to do in this quaint town.

Worth a visit if staying in Ollantaytambo which we did. We loved Ollantaytambo but if you are not staying there and pressed for time, I would recommend Pisaq ruins over Ollantay, both after MP of course. And hire the guides, its not that much in cost, especially compared to what it adds to the experience.

Get a guide, the can add so much to your understanding and enjoyment (sort of test them first to see that they speak you language adequately). We like Ollantaytambo better than Machu Picchu and Pisac (not that it is a competition). We also loved the town!!

Bring altitude medicine, my kids were a little upset with this concern.
