"The room was clean and large. The food was excellent and the monks were friendly and helpful. The grounds and facility was beautiful. We were blessed with a fresh snowfall to make it even more beautiful. Keep in mind if you go in the winter, even though your room is toasty warm, the halls are not. So any walking to dinner, a ceremony, THE BATHROOM, is all in freezing temperatures and I never got hot water from the tap to wash my hands with.

"From the very first time we arrived in Asuka, on to the house. We were surprised by it's magic. The village is so serene, near by all the amenities we needed from walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, and train station. The house itself is absolutely magical. It's like a fairy tail. We arrived right when the autumn color burst out their magnificent red, orange, and gold. This place is even better because the hosts, the elderly couple who take cared of us while we were there were the most genuine, kind, generous people we know. They are very proud of their house, as they should be. So, take care of this place if you are staying there, please. The gifts they gave us during our trip was from their own garden and handmade items. It's very touching and even though we travel to other places afterwards, Kotorian has a soft spot in our hearts. We were traveling the four of us adults and the house was enough space for everyone to do our own thing. The teenagers particularly love the bikes. While us the parents love to rest (to heal for me) and enjoy the slow living of Nara. This place is perfect for everyone. The kids even had a chance to go back to Osaka for a day trip by themselves without having any trouble navigating the trains. The train system between Osaka and Nara was easy to understand. Asuka is now one of our favorite villages in the world. Thank you very much for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We'll be back. Arigatou gozaimashita! "
"Absolutely a superb experience here. The room was stunning and the food top notch. There is clearly so much care and attention here. It was lovely to be able to attend the morning ceremony as well. Highly recommend it. I'll be coming back for sure."
"Beautiful hotel, the monks attending are really nice, definitely go to the morning ceremony, it is worth it. This is near everything and very centric to all the landmarks nearby. The "beds" are pretty hard since its traditional, but its manageable for a night or two. Meals were really good, definitely don't skip them and take the chance to eat traditional monk meals. "
"Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage.
I highly recommend Kohechi hikers to stay at this hotel."
