“I stayed in a room rather than one of the lodges, and the room was lovely, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It's worth noting its on the very edge of the town, around a 15-minute walk from the centre of Ballater. My only disappointment was that the rooms are not serviced daily unless you are staying for a longer period, which wasn't explained at check-in. It was a little frustrating to return after a long day out to find the room hadn't been serviced, as that's one of the things I most...

“A gorgeous manor house-style hotel with so much charm! The staff were really helpful and welcoming, the bar was cosy and the continental breakfast was lovely. There are beautiful walks nearby, and the town is only a 10-minute drive away. Would happily recommend!”

“We enjoyed all the comfort and atmosphere of an old inn, but with every modern convenience. The food was superb in the restaurant, and the full breakfast was as well. The common room was a cozy area with a fire, comfortable seating, and games!”

“Love this historical village hotel! The staff were AMAZING! The cuisine was delectable! We could not be more delighted! Excellent value and hospitality!”

“Easy parking to rear of hotel. Friendly, efficient welcome & check-in. Clean, spacious warm room (room 5). Good choice of tea/coffee. Large fluffy bath towels. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast again with excellent service.”

“De accommodatie was heel fijn en zeer rustig gelegen in het bos. Voor sfeer en gezelligheid is het een 10 op 10. Het was een prettig verblijf voor 2 nachten en uitstekend gelegen ten opzichte van Ballatar en omgeving.”

“This is a gem in the cute little village in Alford. The staff, rooms, bar and restaurant were all great. Highly recommend this hotel.”

“We had an excellent stay at this beautiful hotel. The room was particularly clean and comfortable and the shower was just amazing. The overall decor of the hotel is beautiful, with exceptional attention to detail. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. ”

“Lovely room. We had an evening meal in the bar and the food was excellent. Breakfast was included and there was an excellent selection of cold buffet and cooked options. Again, lovely and very friendly attentive staff. If you want a tranquil location then do go and you won’t be disappointed.”

“The Sweet Donside Cabins are a little piece of heaven in Scotland, everything we could possible need was provided, we stayed in the Little Love Nest and the way it was decorated was absolutely amazing the added touches of pictures and ornaments was second to none, Lizzie and Brent are amazing hosts. Everything was spotless, the hot tub was ready as soon as we arrived and was such a treat with the lights all around the decking area. Each cabin is very private even though they are next to each...

“Hotel did not do breakast - thought I had booked bed and breakfast. Turned on the evening to be told they don't do evening meals, member of staff pointed to a microwave and toaster and referenced a shop that was closed to buy stuff. Next evening, a saturday, they were serving evening meals was told they did server evening meals. Whether they only seve meals at the weekend or short staffed I don't know.”

“Stable Cottage is a beautiful cottage. Anne is a great host.”

“Welcoming for dogs - they provided dog towel and dog blanket as well as dog bowls and rubber mat. Great location and also right beside the bus stop too if you want to catch the bus.”
