“Excellent place to stay when visiting the high peak area. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked. Only a small point to consider. Check the parking area if you have a large car as the parking is a little tight”

While the property is exactly as advertised—a charming historic building with a pub downstairs—it feels more like a pub with a few guest rooms than a traditional hotel. “Room was great. Booking in was awful. All young staff, no management visible. Absolutely awful. Expected a bit of noise from pub. But sounded like being above a club. Drum and base beyond 12 midnight. Tea and coffee minimal. Wouldn’t consider staying again. Cleaner in the morning, absolutely delightful. Best member of staff for sure!”

“The hotel.was ideally situated to explore Buxton. The area where the hotel was is lovely and quiet. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 1 night which usually means you get a small room but the room was a good size. The floorboards outside in the corridors are very creaky which kept us awake at times and had we stayed longer it would have disturbed our sleep but other than that I would definitely stay here again.”

“When I booked the hotel I got the impression that there was parking there. When we arrived I went into ask where the parking was I was given a map and told to park in a residential street "5 minutes walk away". There were some public parking spaces outside and opposite the hotel (only one space opposite when we arrived) but the signs indicated it was maximum of 4 hours so we did park in one of the residential streets suggested. “This was hands down the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and cheery. They made us feel at home and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The wait staff was exceptional as well. The food was excellent, the setting idyllic, and location walkable to The Chatsworth House! We could not wait to write a glowing review as we cannot recommend this hotel enough! We suggest you give your entire staff a raise as they were top notch and whoever hired them...

“It was comfortable, quiet and conveniently located for exploring the area. Comfortable beds, everything one needed in the kitchen, big bathroom and large dining/sitting room. Wasn't keen on open plan bedrooms upstairs, where one could see and hear everything that was said and done in the other bedroom.”

“What a deceptively lovely place to stay. The exterior hides the warmth and friendliness inside. Beautifully up to date and simply designed interior. Easy to navigate and super clean. Access to the rooms can be up the fire escape stairs from the rear car park, best for us, or through the bar. And we took advantage of the cutlery and plates offered for our takeaway. Brilliant! “Lovely room, helpful staff and super breakfast. Easy parking too. Only minor gripe was that the window didn't stay open and we had to prop it open with a toilet roll. The was a bit of an issue as the weather was unseasonable warm and there is no AC in the room. However, the staff did say this was already noted and action was being taken. This was our second stay at the hotel and we would certainly visit again.”
